It was a serious contest at the APC primary election in Mushin Constituency 2 to elect the party flagbearers for the 2023 general elections which incumbent aspirants were defeated in the freest and fairest primary election in the history Mushin community.

The primary election was conducted at New City Primary School having all the aspirants for the two offices in attendance except the incumbent office holder of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Bolaji Yusuf Ayinla was absent.

The House of Assembly primary election which was postponed from Thursday to Friday was conducted simultaneously with the Federal House of Representatives as the delegates were given two ballot papers to vote for their choice aspirants except one of the delegates who was absent making it 29 delegates that voted instead of 30.

The Chairman of the three-man electoral committee, Mr. Abiodun Salami addressed the delegates and aspirants present on the code of conduct to ensure a hitch-free election.

The election started as the delegates took turns to write the names of their preferred aspirants one after the other in an open secret voting system and dropped the ballot papers in the ballot boxes for the House of Representatives and House of Assembly.

After the voting exercise by delegates who were ordered out of the venue after voting, the aspirant agents were asked to line up to receive their aspirants' votes which sorting and counting of ballot papers began.


For the Federal House of Representatives, it was a clear and loud victory for Hon. Toyin Fayinka defeated the incumbent, Hon. Bolaji Yusuf Ayinla seeking a third term and other aspirants with 18 votes, followed by Hon. Seye Oladejo with 8 votes, Hon. Bolaji Yusuf Ayunla had 2 votes while Hon. Ramon Taiwo had 1 vote and Hon. Musibau Ali-Balogun nil vote.

For the House of Assembly, Hon. Yinka Kaseem aka Esho was declared the winner after battling with the incumbent Hon. Olawale Abdulsobur Olayiwola, Esho had 16 votes, Hon. Olawale Abdulsobur Olayiwola 11 votes, Hon. Rasaq Sumonu had 1 vote, Hon. Toyin Aremu, Hon. Wale Arogundade, Olasupo Morgan, and Kaseem Isiba all had nil vote. and one vote void.

As the two aspirants; Hon. Toyin Fayinka and Hon. Yinka Kaseem were announced the winner having scored the highest votes, party members and well wishes at the venue could not hold their joy as they celebrate with the APC flag bearers, expressing great joy that victory is assured at the general poll because the two candidates are very popular and socially grounded in the community.

Present at the venue were the Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye along with his Vice-Chairman, Hon. Tunbosun Haruna Aruwe, Hon. Babatunde Shittabey, Chairman of APC Mushin Chapter, Security personnel, iNEC officials, and party members
