The residents of the Oshodi area lamented of total blackout for more than two weeks now by Ikeja Electricity over the face-off between the Airforce base's inability to clear their debt.

The residents said this is not the first time the electricity distribution company will be putting them in total darkness for weeks on the issue, and it has become a normal routine for them to suffer the innocent, law-abiding residents who pay their bills promptly.

A resident living along Adeyemi Street, who wants to remain anonymous said that Ikeja Electricity is not being fair in punishing them for the sin they did not commit, and if the Ikeja Electricity fails to restore light back on time, they mighty take laws into their hand like the airforce did.

"Why will the Ikeja Electricity suffer us like this for a sin we know nothing about, if the Airbase owes them how does that concern us and stopped supplying us with light for more than two weeks now and they will still bring bill for the month, this is injustice to us and we can not continue like this, and if they fail to restore the light on time, we will march to their office to protest or face their staff when never they come around to around.

"Please, and please, we are begging you, give us light while you resolve the debt issue with our neighbour owing you". He said.

Mushines News gathered that the electricity supply to the airforce base comes from the supply to the Oshodi area and there is no way the airforce base can be cut off from the supply to the Oshodi area, has the Airforce has stopped the Ikeja Electricity from climbing the pole in front of their barrack to disconnect the barrack from the supply which made the electricity distribution company to cut off all power supply to the area affecting large part of Oshodi area to Shogunle and Ladipo area.

A CDA chairman in Shogunle who awantswant to remain anonymous said this is one of the reasons the airforce brefusesfuse to pay the huge debt thashave accumulated for so many years becathose days day that there will be no light for weeks and they will still bring crazy bills, hoping that people pay.

He said they ,paid but Air Forceodoesn'ton't, pay and in their bar, rack most of tuseuses the postpaid m,eter not prepaid.

"Like now that there is no light for weeks, they will still bring their bills, how do you expect people to pay which is the reason the Airforce base failed to pay over the years, your service is poor and you expect people to pay, the Ikeja Electricity should stop exploiting their customers, and improve on their service to the people. " He added.

Mr Babatunde Alimi, a resident appealed to the Council Chairman, Hon. Kehinde Oloyede to intervene on behalf of the residents because the Council Secretariat is also affected considering the dry season.

"We want to appeal to the Council Chairman, the political messiah of Oshodi, Hon. Kehinde Oloyede to please intervene in the matter, the heat is too much, no light to pump watand er, we are spending too much on buying fuel to power house, please talk them on behalf because we can't continue to suffer for what we don't cause." He said.

Many of the residents who spoke with Mushines News lament seriously that they are getting outpatienceient and if they allow them to explode, it will cause them a lot, appealingthe Ikeja Electricity to restore poack to their area while they settle with their debtor.
