The swearing-in ceremony of the Local Council. Chairmen and Councillors elected on Saturday, July 12, into office mark the beginning of a new era in grassroots governance in Lagos and Hon Seyi Jakande, the Executive Chairman of Odi-olowo Ojuwoye LCDA, is set to hit the ground running. 

The Council Chairman made it known during the inauguration of the 6th Legislative Council of the LCDA on Tuesday, 29 July 2025, at the Legislative Chamber of the new Secretariat building. 

The Nine Councillors were sworn in, taking oath of office, and the Chairman read the proclamation letter to declare the 6th Legislative Council open with the first session held to elect principal officers, and Hon. Lekan Adeyi from Ward I emerged as the Leader of the House. 

Speaking with Mushines News, the Council Chairman thanked God for his victory, describing it as a call to serve and set to hit the ground running. 

"This is a call to serve, as we can see that the Governor swore us in on a Sunday, which is to tell us to start working immediately, and we are set to start hitting the ground running, " he said. 

He also said the past eight years have been a successful journey for the government and the people of Odi-olowo Ojuwoye, which is an assurance of sustaining the progress and bringing new innovations to move the local council forward. 

Expressing his expectation from the Councillors sworn in, "They are aware of the duties as the legislative arm of government, which is to make laws and perform oversight functions and I assure you that we are going to work and collaborate together in this journey and bring more development to the community. He said. 

Present at the ceremony were the All Progressives Congress leaders and members, traditional and community leaders, outgoing councillors and incoming councillors' wives, husbands and well-wishers.
