The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) of the Nigeria Police Force, Mushin Divisiion Headquaters, popularly known as Olosan Police Station under the Area D Command hosted a security awareness and education event to reiterate the "See Something, Say Something" of police slogan tagged "Security and Safety Education" to address security challenges facing Mushin communities. 

The event hosted at the PCRC Hall of the Olosan Police Station was well attended by the leaders of the PCRC within the Mushin division and the Area D Command of the Nigeria Police Force and leaders of the CDAs within Mushin LGA and police chiefs. 

The Chairman of the PCRC Mushin Division Headquaters, Alhaji Lateef Adesope Adebowale speaking with Mushines News made it known that the reason for the gathering is to sensitize the CDC and CDA leaders and members under the Mushin Division to address their roles in the community as regards security in Mushin because CDA and CDC are effective in term of crime control and prevention which seems not to be the case in Mushin, making then to understand the concept of see something say something in community policing. 

"What we are saying is that CDA and CDC are closer to the people more than the police and it is only when something happen in your area and you say it, that will make police to do their work, so when you fail to say something that is criminal in your community then you should not blame the police for not act promptly and accurately". He said. 

He added that the CDC and CDAs were called to this meeting to sensitize them on the need to know their right on crime prevention and control through the slogan "See Something, Say Something".

He advised the CDAs leaders who are primarily landlords and landladies in their areas that whenever they are renting their apartment out to tenants, they should do background check-up on the intending tenant because most of the boys that are constituting nuisance in the area are not ghost, they lived in the area. 

He urged the community members to always say something when they see something because no one know who might be the next victims. 

Mr. Anthony Olayiwola Muhamud, the Deputy General Secretary of Ejigbo PCRC and Financial Secretary of Area D Command, Mushin, said the PCRC is all about assisting the police and the community, bridging the gap between the police and the community, and believing in the police slogan of seeing something, saying something and doing something by supllying the police with vital information about what is happening in the community. 

"The PCRC supplys information to the police and do follow up on the information so that there can be peace in the community". He said. 

He stated some of the achievements of the PCRC in Mushin which include bringing the activities of the cultists into order through information sharing with the police and the Hall of PCRC at the Olosan Police station is constructed by the PCRC. 

The Police Chiefs in attendance like the Area D Commander, ACP Bamidele Awoniyi ably represented by the 2IC, CSP Patrick Nwamoko and the Mushin Police Division, DPO, ASP Taiwo Sodiq, they both narrated how they have been preventing crime and arresting criminals through constant raiding of black spots in the community and prompt response to distressed calls, and contact patrol and surveillance. 

They urged the CDA and CDC in attendance to always provide vital information as regards any forms of criminality in their domain and promised absolute confidentiality and proffessionslism in their conduct as regards information sharing. 

The Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corps from the Oshodi Headquaters, Mr Bashir Kabir Adelaja also assured the people present that the office of the LNSC is open to everyone for information sharing to protect the neighbourhood and they will not compromise on any information shared with them. 

Other dignitaries in attendance also spoke in details on the issue of see something say something and do something as the only way the community can be freed of bad elements that threaten the peace of the people in the community. 

The height of the event was a free medical check-up conducted for participants to check their health status because health is wealth and it is when one is healthy that he can think of security and able to share information. 

Community leaders, members and leaders of the PCRC from other divisions within the area D Command were in attendance and shared insightful information with the participants.
