The Executive Chairman of Ã’dì-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Seyi Jakande, on Monday, January 26, 2025, convened a major stakeholders’ engagement to strengthen grassroots mobilization for the nationwide electronic registration of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The event, held at Olomowewe/Jinadu Square, attracted political leaders, traditional rulers, community figures, artisans, religious leaders, and youths across the LCDA.
Dignitaries present included Hon. Adeyemi Alli, Member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Mushin Constituency I; Hon. Nureni Akinsanya, Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mushin Constituency II; Hon. Rasaq Ajala, immediate past Chairman of the LCDA; Hon. Lekan Fatodu, Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission; Hon. Babatunde Kazeem, Chairman of APC in Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA; Dr. (Mrs.) Oyeyemi Ayoola, Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Central Internal Audit; and Oba Olumide Sikirulahi Apena Williams, the Oba of Odi-Olowo Kingdom, among others.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Jakande reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and sustained grassroots engagement.
“Our administration believes strongly in inclusive governance. Regular engagement with our people ensures that no one is left behind and that our policies reflect the real needs of the community,” Jakande said.
He explained that the core objective of the meeting was the ongoing APC electronic membership registration, urging stakeholders to mobilize residents.
“The bottom line of this engagement is the APC electronic registration. We are encouraging everyone to be card-carrying members of the ruling party and to participate actively in the democratic process by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards. This is the surest way for our people to benefit from the dividends of democracy,” he added.
Jakande also used the opportunity to address environmental concerns, announcing the activation of a joint task force to tackle indiscriminate waste disposal in the LCDA.
“We have put in place a joint task force that will move round the community to arrest anyone disposing refuse at unauthorized places. Environmental cleanliness is a collective responsibility, and we will not tolerate actions that endanger public health,” the chairman warned.
Other speakers highlighted the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the LCDA administration, stressing that sustained progress depends on citizens’ active political participation through APC membership and voter registration.
The Council Treasurer, Mr. Rufai Mujitaba, also announced that revenue enumerators would soon begin data collection on taxable businesses.
“Accurate data will help us boost internally generated revenue and deliver more roads, infrastructure, and social intervention projects, since federal allocations alone cannot sustain our annual budget,” Mujitaba explained.
Residents were further sensitized on the ongoing measles–rubella vaccination campaign for female children aged 0 to 14 years, with parents urged to make their wards available when vaccination teams visit.
The engagement ended with strong calls for civic responsibility, environmental discipline, and active democratic participation to drive development in Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA.
