A significant political shift unfolded in Mushin, Lagos, as executives and members of the Labour Party formally defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a general meeting of the Ideal Club 98 of Nigeria, held at Solomon Compound, Olateju Street.

The political apex leader in Mushin and Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye, Distinguished Senator Ganiu Olarewaju Solomon popularly known as Senator GOS, who is also a member of the Lagos State APC Governor’s Advisory Council and founder of Ideal Club 98 of Nigeria, officially received the defectors into the party. The group was led by Hon. Abdulateef Omobolaji Goriola, a former Labour Party chairman in both Mushin and Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye.

In a symbolic gesture, Senator GOS handed over the APC flag to the new entrants, welcoming them into the party fold and urging them to integrate fully.

“You are now part of a bigger political family. Feel at home and be ready to work for the progress of our party and our community,” Solomon said. He used the opportunity to stress the importance of unity and grassroots mobilization ahead of future political engagements.

Responding on behalf of the defectors, Hon. Abdulateef Mobolaji Goriola expressed gratitude for the warm reception, describing the move as a step taken in the collective interest of everyone.

“We thank the Apex Leader for accepting us wholeheartedly. We appreciate Dr. Mrs. Oyeyemi Ayoola who singlehandedly brought us into APC and making this day a reality,” also we appreciate my friend the Executive Chairman of Mushin LGA, Hon. Tunbosun Haruna Aruwe. Goriola said. “Our members are fully ready to work with everyone in APC to achieve Asiwaju 2027.”

To demonstrate their commitment, the new APC members displayed their membership e-registration slips at the meeting, affirming that they had completed the party’s digital registration process. They also pledged to mobilize others to participate in the ongoing exercise.

Speaking further on the APC membership e-registration, Senator GOS charged party faithful to intensify their efforts, noting that the registration deadline had been extended by one week.

“Let us not relax. Use this extension to reach your neighbours and people in your zones. That is what it means to be a good party member,” he urged.
