The honour followed a nationwide public voting process that drew participation from Nigerians across the country. The announcement was contained in a press statement issued by the Chairman’s Chief Press Secretary, Taofeek Mustapha. According to the statement, Aruwe’s nomination, alongside other council chairmen, was earlier published in The Punch newspaper on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. The award is organized by Three T Medals Communication in collaboration with The Medals Magazine.
Hon. Aruwe’s emergence was driven by overwhelming SMS votes from citizens who acknowledged his administration’s visible infrastructural strides and governance style in Mushin. Observers say the recognition underscores growing public confidence in his leadership, particularly in the areas of transparency, accountability, and people-oriented development.
Since assuming office in July 2025, the Mushin council boss has overseen several community-focused projects. These include road construction and rehabilitation, environmental sanitation improvements, educational support initiatives, and empowerment programmes aimed at raising living standards at the grassroots.
Reacting to the award, Hon. Aruwe described the honour as a collective achievement and dedicated it to residents of Mushin.
“This recognition belongs to the good people of Mushin. Their votes affirm that our infrastructural efforts are being felt at the grassroots. I dedicate this award to every resident who believes in our vision of a better Mushin. We remain committed to delivering more impactful projects that will uplift our communities,” he said.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining people-centred policies and ensuring that democratic dividends translate into tangible improvements in daily life for residents.
The development has sparked celebrations across Mushin, with stakeholders and community leaders describing the award as well deserved.
“We voted because we can see the changes from improved roads to cleaner surroundings. Hon. Aruwe has shown genuine commitment to infrastructure and community development, and this award truly reflects the will of the people,” a community leader remarked.
The award presentation ceremony is scheduled to take place on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton, Abuja. Hon. Aruwe has also been invited to participate in a one-day workshop on Accelerated Grassroots Development for Local Government Administrators, where best practices in local governance and infrastructure delivery will be discussed.
The recognition further places Mushin LGA in the national spotlight as a model for grassroots-driven development.
