As the organising committee of the 85th birthday and 45th coronation ceremony of His Royal Highness, Oba Fatai Ayinla Aileru, the Olu of Mushin land has kicked start activities leading to the D-day Saturday, 28 January 2023.

The strictly by-invitation grand finale will take place at Badeh Hall, NAFRC, Charity, Oshodi, with dignitaries in attendance like Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state and his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Kadri Hamzat, distinguished Senator Ganiu Olarewaju Solomon, Council Chairmen, Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye and Hon. Rasaq Ajala of Mushin L respectively, Federal and State House of Assembly, members, and business moguls, the ceremony is promised to be full of who is who in and out of the Mushin community and King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall 1 will be on stage to entertain the quests.

The pre-event activities which started on Sunday were a colourful event as the Kabiesi prayed for more years in good health at the Methodist Church, Palm Avenue, Mushin.

Speaking on the second day on Monday, 23 January 2023 at the palace during an interactive session with journalists at a press conference, The Kabiyesi expressed great joy and happiness to have clocked 85th years of age and 45th years on the throne as the King of Mushinland when he was 40 years old.

The Kabiesi narrated that he was a staff of the old Mushin LGA before he was chosen to be the next king of Mushinland and briefly narrated how the name Mushin was formed through an Ishin tree, the Ishin tree was a big tree where hunters, travellers in the olden days, more 500 years ago, used as a place of abode, where they relax and eat the delicious fruit of the Ishin tree called "Ishin to continue their journey", as the two families namely: Aileru from Benin and Odu Abore from Ile Ife that formed the royal family met under the tree which their first communication was "Ibu Ishin mi re" meaning "this is the place of my abode" and the two families picked the Ishin fruit by saying in Yoruba " "Mu Ishin" as people began to join them under the tree and called the place "MU'SHIN" and the name became more popular.

He said it has been a great wonderful experience to be king of this great community and said reaching this age is a great privilege and grace of God and hopes to see great industrious and illustrious sons and daughters of Mushin celebrating with Him.

He urged the good people of the Mushin residents to pay their taxes and levies so that the government can adequately cater for our community needs.


The organising committee chairman, Engineer Alaba Sholabi, said the preparation is a logistics nightmare and that members are on their toes to make the day a memorable and glorious one for the Kabiesi, outlined other pre-event activities as follows: Tuesday, 24 will be a visitation to companies and youth fanfare at the palace, Wednesday, 25 traditional rites, Thursday, 26 Conferment of Chieftaincy titles on notable personalities, Friday, 27, Jumat service at Ansar- ud-deen Central Mosque at Coker Street, Mushin and the grand finale Saturday 28 at Badeh Hall, NAFRC, Charity Oshodi.

The Secretary of the committee, Prince Yahya Aileru, one of the princes of Kabiesi expressed great appreciation to people and organisations who have contributed to making the day a reality and assured them that there will be plenty to eat and drink on the day.
