Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 30-year-old man identified as Dare Shogaolu, popularly known as “Super M,” during a routine stop-and-search patrol in the Mushin area of Lagos, recovering a locally made pistol and other suspicious items from him.

The arrest, which occurred late in the evening of March 5, was carried out by members of the Anti-Crime Patrol Team attached to the Mushin Police Division during a patrol operation aimed at curbing criminal activities in the area.

According to a statement released on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, CSP Abimbola Adebisi, the suspect was apprehended around 10:00 p.m. along the LUTH Road axis in Mushin after officers noticed his suspicious movement while carrying a white and orange-yellow polythene bag.

Adebisi explained that the patrol team, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), intercepted the suspect for questioning, prompting a search of the bag he was carrying.

“The Lagos State Police Command has recorded another operational success with the arrest of one Dare Shogaolu, ' m ’, aged 30, also known as ‘Super M’, and the recovery of a locally made pistol during a routine stop-and-search operation in the Mushin area of the state,” the statement read.

“On March 5, 2026, at about 10:00 p.m., operatives of the Anti-Crime Patrol Team of Mushin Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, while on routine patrol along the LUTH Road axis, Mushin, accosted a suspicious-looking man carrying a white and orange-yellow polythene bag.”

Police said a search conducted on the bag led to the recovery of one locally made pistol, alongside other items believed to be connected with criminal activities.

Items recovered from the suspect include a black leather purse, charms, and three pairs of slippers, which investigators believe may have been used for illicit purposes.

According to the police, preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect had been linked to criminal activities within the Mushin community and was allegedly responsible for several disturbances in the area.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect has been involved in some criminal activities within the area and has allegedly been responsible for causing disturbances in the community,” the statement added.

Shogaolu is currently in police custody as the investigation continues. Authorities say efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the suspected criminal network believed to be associated with him.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Olohundare Jimoh, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive policing and ensuring the safety of residents across the state.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to support the police with timely information that could assist security agencies in combating crime and maintaining peace in their communities.
