The popular Fuji legend, Kolawole Rasaq Ilori known as Kollington Ayinla has denied the rumour of his death which went viral on social media yesterday in a video made at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital in Ikeja, Lagos.
The 74-year-old fuji musician on Tuesday addressed his health status In a video from the hospital where he received treatment, said he would have died but he was saved.
He expressed gratitude to God, the management of the hospital, and others for his improved health condition.
“All Lagosians, we thank you, ware using this medium to appreciate you, a lot of things that people don’t know about LASUTH, we want to show you, under the leadership of Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo.
“It is only God that can save a person but they really tried for me because I could have died but due to their efforts, I was saved.
“Alhaji General Kollignton Ayinla, the leader of all Fuji musicians, I am the one speaking, a lot of people thought I was dead, but LASUTH, they are a king (in terms of treatment). I hail their efforts; you really tried. I thank our Governor, Olusola Babajide Sanwo-Olu. I appreciate your support. I also thank the Chief of Staff.
"I thank Nigerians; those who could visit me and those who could not come. It wasn’t a slight ailment. I won’t use the ailment to repay you because many people thought I was dead but we thank God. LASUTH saved my life and I thank God,” he concluded.
The earlier report had it that the Fuji legend had been sick for some weeks, placed on oxygen, and lying critically ill but the nature of his sickness is not disclosed
