As the global economic meltdown and the effect of subsidy removal on petroleum bite on which governments at various levels began to fashion out ways and strategies to cushion the effect on the people, the Chairman of Odiolowo Ojuwuye LCDA, Hon Rasaq Ajala has disclosed that his administration will begin to sale food items at a subsidized price to people in the community.

The Chairman made it known to the people during the presentation of the Easter celebration food package to the Christian faithful at Araromi Baptist Church along Damigoro Street by Shokunbi Street on Thursday, 28 March 2024.

Addressing the congregation, Hon. Ajala said the Council by April will begin to sell food items to the people of Odiolowo Ojuwoye LCDA at an affordable price like the Christmas sales of Chicken at a subsidized price to complement the state government "Ounje Eko Market".

"Our administration will begin to sell food items by April to the people of Odiolowo Ojuwoye at a subsidized price like the Christmas sales of chicken, the prices of items to be sold will surprise the people," he said.

Presenting the Easter food items which comprises 2000 tubers of yam, 50 bags of 50 kg rice and 1000 creates of eggs to be shared among 1000 Christian faithful in the community.

He added that the leaders of the Christian community will have additional ingredients like Chicken, Vegetable oil, and beverages to celebrate Easter.

Receiving the food items, Reverend Dr. Emmanuel Oluwafemi Durowoju, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Coordinator of Odiolowo Ojuwoye LCDA, described the move as unprecedented considering the season of Easter which is a showing of love to people as God so loved the world and gave his only begotten son, Jesus Christ to die for our sin and the Chairman has set the tone of joyful celebration for the Christian folks.

"What the Chairman has done is to alleviate the suffering the people are experiencing now and it will go a long way to ease the Christian folks in having a joyful celebration in their house and we will distribute it to the people that need those items. He said.

Present at the Araromi Baptist Church with the Chairman were his Vice Chairman, Hon. Seyi Jakande, Councilors, Supervisors, the Council management, and well wishes.
