The residents of Paul Okuntola Street, Ogun Street, and its environs in Mushin LGA have been in fear and unrest due to the ugly incident that occurred on Sunday  28 July 2024 which led to the death of two people from the Idi-Araba area, appealed to the warring factions to shield their swords and allow peace to reign in the community.
The residents appealing, narrated how they have been living in constant fear of retaliation from the Idi Araba boys, who lost two of their friends as they were macheted to death by some boys identified to belong to another faction around the Paul Okuntola area.

A resident, Mr Jamiu, said the fear is so much that they hardly move out of their houses in the day or night because they don't know when they, the Idi Araba boys might come.

"We hardly go out in the day or at night because we don't know when they are coming and when they come, they are with guns and dangerous weapons including charms, so no one will want to be hit by a stray bullet or fall victim, so our children were not allowed to go out anyhow because of the fear of "Won ti bo oh!, (they are coming).

"Even some people injured themselves while running for safety as those boys came yesterday, so we are begging them to please not to retaliate so that the community does not turn to the battleground, and we don't want such to happen again in our community," He said.

A CDA member in the community who wants to remain anonymous disclosed to Mushines News that one of the boys that were murdered was the late Obey of Idi-Araba's adopted son, which triggered the retaliation from the Idi Arabs boys, and they don't want the ugly old days where the two communities are in constant attack and counter-attack.

"We have been living in fear since Sunday when the incident happened because we know what the Idi Araba boys might do as they have been coming almost every day to retaliate, looking for the boys that killed two of their boys,  and these boys had run away from the community now, leaving us in fear of what they have caused.

"We are not happy about it and looking for a solution to make peace with the Idi Araba boys, appealing to them to calm down, making consultation with the warring faction and we want to thank the police for their prompt response to douse the tension which several arrests of people from both sides were made to arrest the situation". He said.

It was gathered that the boys who perpetrated the evil act had run away, and they were allegedly traced to be Olori Esho boys, and the Idi Arabs boys have been terrorizing the community for revenge.

Also, it was gathered that a hotel was raided by the police, and several guns and ammunition were recovered.

Mushines News Speaking with the Area Commander of Zone D, ACP Bamidele  Awoniyi,  appealed to the warring faction not to escalate the situation by carrying out revenge and disclosed that the police are on top of the issue and are ready to make peace talk between the two communities as they intensify their operation to make the community safe again.
