The annual end-of-the-year programs of Odi-olowo Ojuwoye LCDA, which come with lots of community engagement, kick-started on Friday, 8 November 2024, with a press conference which the Executive Chairman of Odiolowo Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon. Rasaq Ajala at the Council Secretariat Hall unveiled the programs outlined with the commencement of Odiolowo Ojuwoye Sports Fiesta Season 3.

The Chairman addressing the stakeholders in the community and pressmen made it known that the end-of-the-year program is to continue engaging the people so that they continue to believe in the local government and as the LCDA is well-known for its love for sporting activities, the sports fiesta is to give the youth and old in the community the opportunity to showcase their sport talents, and used the occasion to render account of his stewardship. 

"This performance is evident by the services that our administration has continued to render across all sectors, from road and infrastructure to the health sector, environmental management, agric and social services, and most importantly, education and youth development," He said. 

He further stated that he has carefully deliberated on his administration's achievement in the last few years with a profound sense of fulfillment and utmost sense of gratitude to God for his great accomplishment, and appreciated the presence and support of the people for his administration. 

Unveiling the season 3 sports fiesta, Ajala said the sum of 20 million naira as a star prize is off for grabs in the competition that creates bond and unity among the residents of the LCDA. 

After the press presentation, some of the programs and projects to be executed by the chairman were announced as his administration wraps off next year. Like 22 roads to be reconstructed, the construction of a standard football pitch at Ikupeju Secondary School, and the introduction of the Environmental and Traffic Corps. 

 Ladies and gentlemen of the press questioned the Chairman to dig more into the program outlined which Mushines Newspaper Publisher, Mr. Sayid Ajalaruru asked the chairman that if the State Assembly succeeds in achieving their objective of renaming the 37 LCDAs into Administrative Areas Office with no elected Chairman but appointed Administrative Secretary, how will all these development and people-oriented programs in the LCDA continue?.

The Chairman responded that it is the opinion of the Conference 57 Chairmen in Lagos, that the LCDA administration and structure should not be tampered with but to make them a full-serving local council rather than making it redundant and if the Assembly goes ahead with its plan, whosoever is appointed by the Governor should be sons and daughters of the said community which will know the pain of the people and continue on the legacy that has been laid down by the previous administration. 

The height of the press conference was the presentation of a cash reward to two young boxers of the Ashimota Boxing Club of Odiolowo who made the community proud at the just concluded Nigeria Youth Game Festival 2024 held in Asaba, Delta State. 

The two boxers, male, Bolarinwa Micheal, who won the gold medal in 44kg boxing, and female Abiola Oyindamola, 39kg, won the gold medal. The Chairman encouraged them to be focused and not to forget their background when they arrived at the top of their boxing career because he strongly believed in the two boxers to be future champions.
