The police are bracing up security measures to curb and arrest hoodlums who are terrorising the Mushin community daily in broad daylight and midnight, which led to the arrest of 23 teenagers during a midnight raid on Monday, 2nd June 2025.
The police made it known that the raiding will continue until Mushin is free of the criminals who have turned the night into a thriller, speaking with Mushines, the Area Commander of Zone D. ACP Bamidele Awoniyi disclosed that they will intensify the raiding of major blackspots that serves as hideout for the criminals because peace must reign in Mushin.
“We are not resting on our oars as we are going to intensify the raiding of major blackspots in the Mushin community, making Mushin unsafe for criminals, and anyone arrested will face the music,” He said.
Speaking on the Monday arrest, he said the arrest was carried out at midnight, busting into major blackspots like Ago Ishaga Market, Ojuwoye Market, Awolowo Market and other places as most of the hoodlums were traced to those blackspots where they gathered before launching their attack on innocent residents.
He added that on Tuesday midnight, another raid was carried out, and about 16 people were also arrested, interrogation and investigation are ongoing; once concluded, they will be arraigned in court.
Today, 17 suspects arrested on Monday were arraigned in Mushin Court 2 at Samuel Ilori Court, Ogba and were remanded in prison custody pending the advice from the Director of Public Prosecution on the charges levelled against them.
He assured the residents that lasting peace would be restored in Mushin and people should go about their lawful business and activities without fear and have a lovely Sallah celebration.
He appealed to the residents to always speak out whenever they see something criminal in the community because prevention is better than cure, “when you avail us the information of criminals in your area, we will strike and nip it the bud before it happens rather than looking for the culprits after it has happened.” He said.
A dedicated number, 09168630923, was launched by Alakara Police Division for the people who lived around the troubled area to call 24 hours for any distressed situation within Olosha and its environs; he appealed that no fake calls, that anyone who made such calls could be arrested and prosecuted for raising false alarm.
