There was mild drama at the Port Harcourt International Airport on Sunday when popular street-hop artiste, Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, lost his temper after being accosted by a group of pranksters.
Eyewitnesses said the pranksters, believed to be online content creators, tried to stage a “social experiment” on the singer as he exited the arrival terminal. The act, however, backfired when Portable mistook their actions for harassment.
In a viral video, the visibly enraged artist was seen shouting at the group, warning them to stay away. Airport security officers swiftly intervened to prevent the scene from escalating.
Reactions have since trailed the incident online, while some Nigerians blamed the pranksters for crossing the line, others felt Portable overreacted.
Breaking his silence in a video posted on Instagram Monday, Portable claimed the group were “death pranksters,” accusing them of trying to use him in a fake death skit.
He said, “Those people came to prank me. They were death pranksters. It almost turned to cultist level. Ten yellow no fit stand one blue,” adding that such content creators should be stopped from endangering others for online fame.
He also called on authorities and bloggers to take action against fake news and reckless pranks, insisting his name and reputation were being tarnished for clout.
