In a landmark effort to improve access to quality healthcare at the grassroots level, Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), in partnership with Eko Club Atlanta (USA), has launched a one-day Medical Mission Outreach that provided free healthcare services to thousands of residents.
The outreach, flagged off with a press conference on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the Council Secretariat, featured a wide range of medical services, including consultations, drug distribution, health screenings, and preventive health education sessions.
Speaking during the kickoff, the Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon. Seyi Jakande, described the initiative as “a monumental task that speaks to our administration’s commitment to bringing accessible healthcare to those who need it most, as outlined in our HEWA Agenda.”
He further revealed that the program would not end at the Secretariat but would be extended to all wards within the LCDA.
“We are eager to educate, inform, and help our residents understand how they can take charge of their health,” he emphasized.
Leading the delegation from the United States, Alhaja Wunmi Isiotan, Chairperson of the Medical Outreach, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and partnership.
“Our mission is to bridge gaps in healthcare access and empower communities through quality medical care. We’re here to listen, care, and provide the best possible treatment,” she said.
She was supported by renowned medical experts, Dr. Olabisi Jagun and Dr. Nike Agbe, alongside a team of volunteer health workers.
The local Chairman of the Club, Hon. Deji Ajibola, made a passionate appeal to individuals and organizations to emulate the gesture in their various communities to complement government efforts in delivering quality medical services to the people.
The initiative offered free dental, eye, and malaria tests, as well as hypertension and diabetes screening, cervical and breast cancer checks, and general health consultations. Beneficiaries also received free medications and health education materials.
Expressing their appreciation, residents described the program as timely and life-changing.
“Health is wealth. This kind of outreach shows real care for the people,” said Mr. Taju from Olateju Street.
Elder Sulaimon Ajasa added, “Thank you, Hon. Jakande and Eko Club Atlanta. You have truly brought hope to our community.”
The Club will continue the outreach at Ojodu LCDA on November 4, hosted by Hon. Segun Odunbaku, and on November 5 at the Elegbata Sports Complex, Lagos Island, hosted by Chief (Mrs.) Ogundele, the Iyalaje of Holloway Market.
