The Lagos State Council of Tradesmen and Artisans (LASCOTA), Mushin Ajina Chapter, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, held a grand inauguration of its newly elected executive members alongside a vibrant end-of-year celebration at the Mushin Local Government Secretariat Hall.
Among the dignitaries present were Leader and Deputy Leader of the Mushin Legislative Council, Hon. Dele Abioye and Hon. Ibrahim Olamilekan; Chairman, Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LASCOTA, Mr. Olalekan; Imam Muftau Balogun, Mrs. Abosede Akinbolajo (Bolex), Mrs. Okeowo.anf the HOD for Agriculture and Social Services, Mr. Rasheed Bada.
In her address, Chairperson of LASCOTA Mushin Ajina Chapter, Alhaja Mrs. Oluwakemi Okunlola, expressed deep gratitude to God, the leadership of the council, and the members whose dedication she said has transformed LASCOTA Mushin Ajina into “a model of progress and unity.”
She praised the executive chairman, Hon. Aruwe, and other political office holders for their consistent support, noting that the chapter had recorded “remarkable achievements” during her tenure.
According to her, the chapter which began “as a dream,” now boasts significant milestones including:
Full certification and registration of LASCOTA Mushin Ajina with the Mushin Local Government
Establishment of an active UBA account for the association
Authentic ID cards for all members
Unified branded T-shirts and caps for identity
Direct trade permit payment into the Mushin LGA treasury
Growth from 12 to 25 active associations under the chapter
Interest-free soft loans for members through the Women of Wisdom platform
Partnership with Mushin LG for PVC registration awareness across wards and markets
Four consecutive awards as Best Local Government LASCOTA Chapter in Lagos State
Mrs Okunlola affirmed that beginning in 2026, the chapter—under the guidance of the new executive team and the LG chairman—will intensify efforts to ensure all practicing artisans in Mushin Ajina comply with trade permit regulations.
One of the warmest highlights of the ceremony was the presentation of special gifts to members in recognition of their dedication, loyalty, and outstanding service to the council.
The gesture, according to the leadership, was aimed at motivating artisans and reinforcing the culture of commitment within the association.
In a heart-melting moment, members also surprised Chairperson Okunlola with a special appreciation gift, acknowledging her selfless leadership, resilience, and the remarkable progress achieved under her stewardship. The surprise presentation drew applause, cheers, and an emotional reaction from the Chairperson.
The Chairperson extended heartfelt thanks to the association leaders, elders, executives, and members for their perseverance, support, and spiritual guidance.
She gave special recognition to the Women Leader, Alhaja Muinat Mustapha, for her “selfless service,” and expressed deep personal appreciation to her husband, Alhaji Lateef Okunlola, whom she described as “my king and pillar of strength.”
The ceremony also featured the formal presentation of the Certificate of Return to Alhaja Okunlola and the newly inaugurated executive members by the HOD of Agriculture and Social Services, Mr. Rasheed Bada, reaffirming their mandate to steer the affairs of LASCOTA Mushin Ajina for the new term.
The event culminated in lively celebrations filled with music, goodwill messages, gift presentations, and renewed commitment to strengthening the tradesmen and artisans’ community.
