Late Chief Solomon Akinyele

The Vice Chairman of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Gbeminiyi Awodogan, has been thrown into mourning following the death of his father, Chief Solomon Akinyele, who passed away at the age of 85. 

The decreased reportedly died on Thursday evening, February 5, 2026, at about 7 p.m. at Mushin General Hospital, Oliyide. His remains have been deposited in the  mortuary.

News of his passing has drawn an outpouring of condolences from across Mushin and the Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye community. Sympathies have also been extended to the family of the late Chief Mrs. Modupeola Awodogan, popularly known as Iya Oniyan, a respected women’s political leader in the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the family faces this moment of grief.

Reacting to the development, the Chairman of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon. Seyi Jakande, expressed deep sorrow over the loss. Speaking on behalf of the council management, staff, and the people of the LCDA, he described the deceased as a revered patriarch whose life was marked by wisdom, mentorship, and unwavering devotion to family and community. He noted that Chief Akinyele’s values and guidance are evident in the integrity and public service record of his son, Hon. Awodogan.

“His departure is a painful blow. He was more than a father, a pillar of strength and a source of inspiration. Though words cannot fully ease the pain of this loss, we pray that Almighty God grants him eternal rest and gives the family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” Hon. Jakande said, assuring the Vice Chairman and his family that the LCDA stands with them during this difficult time.
