The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Shotayo Seliat Adebisi, has emerged victorious in the Ward H (C3) bye-election held in the Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area.

The bye-election was conducted by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission to fill the vacant councillorship seat left by the late Hon. Zainab Shotayo, who passed away shortly after her inauguration into office last year.

It would be recalled that Mushines News had earlier reported LASIEC’s readiness to conduct the poll, which took place across 50 polling units within Ward H on Tuesday, 23 June, 2026. The exercise witnessed a keen contest among candidates from different political parties, with residents trooping out to cast their votes.

At the end of the collation process, the Returning Officer of LASIEC announced the final results as follows: the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 260 votes, the APC secured a landslide victory with 3,820 votes, while the National Democratic Party (NDP) recorded 28 votes.

Following the declaration, Shotayo Samiat Adebisi of the APC was officially returned elected, having scored the highest number of valid votes cast.

Political observers described the outcome as both a strong endorsement of the ruling party in the ward and an emotional moment for the Shotayo family, as the winner is the younger sister of the late Hon. Zainab Shotayo.

Party insiders disclosed that her emergence as the APC candidate was largely seen as a tribute to her late sister’s legacy and service to the people of Ward H.

APC Party leaders, supporters and residents who gathered at the collation centre celebrated the victory, describing it as a continuation of the late councillor’s vision for grassroots development in the community.
