Parents and guardians in Ward C1A of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA have heaved a sigh of relief as their Councillor, Hon. Rahmon Adisa, distributed back-to-school essentials to 200 public primary school pupils in his constituency.

The intervention, which attracted commendation from parents, community leaders and political stakeholders, was aimed at easing the financial pressure associated with preparing children for the new academic session.

The beneficiaries were selected from Ajegunle, Christ Centre, St. Paul’s and Kossy Bethel Primary Schools after teachers carefully identified pupils considered will be in dire need of the materials.

The items distributed included school sandals, school uniforms, socks and 40-leaf exercise books.

The gesture came shortly after the Executive Chairman of the LCDA, Hon. Dr Seyi Jakande, commenced the distribution of back-to-school kits containing school bags, food flasks, exercise books, pens and pencils to pupils across public primary schools in the council area.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Hon. Rahmon Adisa aka Ganje said his initiative was intended to complement the chairman’s education support programme and ensure that financial hardship did not prevent children from attending school. 

He explained that supporting education at the grassroots remained one of the most meaningful ways to invest in the future of the community.

The councillor also appreciated political leaders and supporters who had continued to stand by him. 

The immediate past Chairman of the LCDA, Hon. Rasaq Ajala, while speaking at the event, recalled his own experience as a councillor and how he supported constituents through the distribution of free GCE forms and other educational interventions.

Hon Ajala noted that such gestures could transform lives, strengthen the bond between elected representatives and their constituents, and create a lasting positive legacy. 

He encouraged the Councillor to sustain the initiative and urged other political office holders to make education support a priority.

The Executive Chairman, Hon. Dr Seyi Jakande, commended the councillor for demonstrating the core values of his administration’s HEWA Agenda through the intervention.

Dr Jakande said building a resilient future through academic investment was not the responsibility of government alone, but a collective duty shared by political office holders, parents and community leaders.

He called on other elected councillors to emulate the initiative and broaden social welfare support for vulnerable residents across Lagos State.

The atmosphere became emotional as parents and guardians received the materials, with many expressing appreciation through songs of praise and prayers for the councillor.

Some beneficiaries’ parents said the gesture had taken a huge burden off their shoulders, especially at a time when the cost of school uniforms, footwear, socks and writing materials continued to rise. 

They described the intervention as timely and meaningful, saying it demonstrated that government representatives could make a direct difference in the lives of ordinary families.

The event was attended by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Oluwagbeminiyi Awodogan; Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Mujeeb Ayinde Daramola; Chief of Staff, Hon. Taiwo Ogungbe; Legislative Leader, Hon. Olamilekan Adeyi; APC Party Chairman, Hon. Ismail Babatunde Kazeem; and the Baale of Ilupeju, Chief Idowu Orelaja.

Parents, pupils, community leaders, residents and members of the School-Based Management Committees also attended and praised Adisa for the educational support.
