Democracy is all about giving back to the electorates and in giving back as dividends of democracy, on Wednesday, 7 September 2022, the Honourable Supervisor for Education in Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA. Hon. Faiz Olayori Bola Quadri aka Skylight has given a welcome back to school pack to about 150 pupils of Odiolowo Ojuwoye LCDA as schools resumed 2022/2023 academic session.

The presentation was held at Majolate Primary School where pupils from public primary schools within ward C3 namely Majolate Primary School (Majolate Zone), Bereola Primary School (Ayetoro Zone) and Mushin Primary School (Adebimpe Zone) were presented with the pack such as school bags sandals, exercise books, pencils, erasers and biros. 






Speaking at the presentation, Hon. Faiz, thanked all the political leaders in the community from the Distinguished Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, Hon. Taofeek Adeyemi Ali, Hon. Nureni Akinsanya, Hon. Rasaq Olusola Ajala, Alhaji Hassan aka Labari and other notable leaders who allowed him to serve in the government.

He explained that before his appointment as a Supervisor, he has always wanted to give to the people and his appointment has opened the door for him to contribute his quota to the development of the community and people at large, and as Supervisor for education which supervised the recent free GCE forms to indigent students made him think of the welcome back to school pack for the pupils.

Speaking with Mushin News, he said," in other to extend this gesture beyond my ward, ward C3, I will be doing this every sixth month by visiting various primary schools within the LCDA to give out school uniforms, bags, sandals, books and writing materials to pupils who are in need, as a support to the pupils' parents in meeting up with their wards educational needs." 

Hon. Rasaq Olushola Ajala, the Chairman of Odiolowo Ojueoye LCDA present at the presentation, praised the donor for the gestures and eulogised him, stating the significance of what he has done to the pupils as he recalled his free GCE forms to the people when he was a Councilor which through the form, many of the beneficiaries have become lawyers, engineers and so on.

 


He said: "It is important that we let the pupils understand the significance of what is being done today so that those who are benefiting today will refer to what is being done when they are writing their story in the future."

He narrated his childhood story to inspire the children and parents to take good care of their wards' education because he was just like these pupils while growing up in the community and look at him now.

"There was a time when I was in primary school that my school uniform has torn and sandal flattens off and one of my brothers came to Alamutu market to meet my dad and he started crying seeing the sorry state I was and as a child, I don't know what aaa going on until he started asking my dad why I was like that, my dad wasn't financially buoyant that time, which my brother went to do conductor to buy me new school uniform and sandal along the railway line, even then I don't have school bag, it was nylon I used as a school bag. Look at me now, so I explore parents to please take good care of their wards and you children to face your book so that you can be the best professional in any field you have chosen, to change the negative narration about our community and contribute to the development at any level you find yourselves. Hon Ajala said.

He stressed that quality education should be given to children and funded adequately, calling on other well-meaning people or individuals to support education as the government alone can not do it considering the enormous task of meeting up with the yearnings and aspirations of the people. He encouraged the children to use the items properly.
