The Mushin Local Government Education Authority (Mushin LGEA)  has been ranked among the best results and had the highest number of pupils registered for the 2024 Common Entrance Examination conducted recently. 

The Education Secretary (E.S) of Mushin LGEA,  Princess Akinlude made this known during the 2024 annual Professional Skills Summit for the graduating Primary Six pupils in Mushin LGA and Odiolowo Ojuwoye LCDA  on Thursday 25 July 2024 at The LGEA Secretariat, Igbo-Owu Secondary School Complex, Olu Aina Street, Mushin. 

The E. S disclosed that about 2568 pupils registered for the 2024 Common Entrance Examination which is an entry examination for primary Six pupils into secondary school level, and 86 pupils out of them sat for the State and Federal common entrance examination and performed excellently. 

She said the percentage of pupils with high results in Lagos shows that Mushin LGEA is ranked among the best 5 LGEAs and the LGEA registering a high number of pupils in Lagos State shows that our pupils and showing more interest in education. 

Speaking at the Professional Skill Summit where the pupils displayed their choice of careers and skills as future professionals. 

"The Professional Summit which has become an annual event since I came on board as the E. S of the LGEA has become a tradition which the pupils look up to socialize and celebrate the first school leaving certificate and look up in the future as they graduate to the Secondary School level. 
And to make the day great and memorable for the pupils, they were asked to dress in the custome of their chosen future careers and meet professionals in the field they have chosen to take them on a career path talk so that they can be inspired to put in their best in the academic journey". She said. 

She pointed out that some of the children who passed the State and Federal common entrance examination and hoping to gain admission into some of the State and Federal Secondary schools will be given scholarships as promised by all the two Council Chairmen and Representatives at the Federal and State Houses in Mushin and Odiolowo Ojuwoye Constituencies will be taking out of their comfort zone ( homes) and experience a new environment, getting them mature for adulthood. 

Dignitaries like Dr. Shirts Akeem, the Chairman, of Lagos State Universal Basic Board, and Dr. Mrs, Sherifat Yusuf, Tutor General, and Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Education District VI present praised the E. S for the event initiative and urged other LGEAs to emulate her describing the event as first of its kind in Lagos State which shows how much the E. S is passionate about developing education in Mushin. 

Speaking with Mushines News, they advised them to continue to be a good child to the parent and continue and face their studies because without education all the custome they are wearing can not be possible. 

"This is a very unique program and good initiative, which I laid the Education Secretary of the LGEA and I want to advise the Children that as they are going into secondary school which is another world entirely, and should not be distracted by the euphoria of today's event, get to secondary school distracted, start misbehaving. 

"I pray that as they are well sensitized by all the professionals here today, they are going to be of exemplary character with a good effort in making it their next level of education". Dr. Mrs Sherifat Yusuff. 

This is very laudable program for the graduating pupils to dream of the profession they want to pursue in life and I will advise them that to dream is one thing but to achieve it is another thing,  so they have to be disciplined and focused, and do not let their background keep them on the ground, when they pursue their dreams vigorously and with God they will get to their destination". Dr Shittu Akeem said. 

One of the professionals present to enlighten the pupils on the career path, Lieutenant Commander Kehinde Ibironke Adekunle, representing the Nigerian Army Resettlement Centre, Oshodi Commandant, Commandant, Air Vice Marshall Adeniyi Albert Aleshinloye, who spoke on the military profession, said the Military profession is the only profession the encompasses all other professions, it has doctors, lawyers, engineers and so on. 

"The children are the leaders of tomorrow, our heritage so at this stage we must encourage them to begin to think what tomorrow may look like for them, and in the Military profession is where they can look into when ch has every profession that is represented here today, The Nigeria Military which consists of the Nigeria Army, Airforce and Navy which accommodates every professions from doctors, nurses, engineers, accountants just mention them. 

"My advice to the children is first of all to face their studies to finish their secondary school which is the entry point into the military and determine if they are coming into the military profession as an officer cadre or the other ranks depending on their level of education but I will advice them to study very well and go to the Nigeria Defence Academy after their Secondary school to join the officer cadre or join after their secondary as other ranks officers." She said. 

Also, addressing the pupils was the representative of the Lagos State Ministry Of Youth and Sports on Children Diversion Program for children who are prone to crime to be reorientated and trained them on skill acquisition, advising the parent to act fast by referring any children they found to be in conflict with the law before the grow wings and become a threat to the community. 

Some of the pupils who spoke with Mushines News promised to be focused and disciplined in pursuing their careers and academics and expressed great joy in leaving primary school for the secondary school level.
