As the race for the chairmanship position in Mushin Local Government is getting fierce and tensed, more than 40 aspirants jostle for one seat under the ruling party, the All Progressives Congresses 

Aspirants began to lobby party leaders and members seeking support, the party leaders in their great wisdom and knowledge chose to go by the party guidelines and chose a consensus candidate in other to ease the tension and avoid potential violence that occurred during a primary election, and Hon. Tunbosun Aruwe Haruna, the present Vice-Chairman of Mushin LGA was chosen as the party consensus candidate for the LGA election scheduled to hold on Saturday, July, 12 for continuity of the good work the present administration is doing. 

This idea didn't go down well with some aspirants, and they clamoured for the primary election to be held on Saturday, May 10th. 

As the party is preparing for the primary election, on Wednesday, April 30th,17 chairmanship aspirants of the APC under a group of APC chairmanship aspirants in Mushin called "Dee Party Faithfuls" declared their support for the consensus candidate. Hon. Tunbosun Haruna Aruwe. 

According to the Secretary of the group, Hon. Hakeem Adeshile Mustapha, the Majority Leader of Mushin 9th Legislative Chamber, Councilor representing Ward A, who is also a chairmanship aspirant, made it known that the decision of the aspirants to declare support for the consensus candidate of the APC is because of the trust and belief they all have in the leadership of the distinguished Senator Ganiyu Olarewaju Solomon and other leaders in Mushin. 

"I will say our support to the consensus candidate was mainly because of the trust and belief we all have in the leadership of our Apex leader, Sen. Ganiyu O. Solomon, Hon. Seye Oladejo, Hon. Bolaji Yussuf Ayinla, Hon. Oluwatoyin Fayinka, Hon. Yinka Esho Kazeem, Barrister Sodiq, Hon. E.O Bamigboye, Hon. Kehinde Ajinni Babalola, Hon (Dr) Oyeyemi Ayoola and all other notable leaders in mushin.

"And because it’s of utmost importance, we respect the supremacy of the party and abide by its rules and regulations," He said. 

The aspirant who pledged their support are as follows:- Hon. Lukman Olajide, Hon. Oshifeso Noah, Hon. Hakeem A. Mustapha, Hon. Akinsupo Morgan, Hon Gbadamosi Olubunmi, Hon. Shina Adeosun, Hon. Hafeez Quadri, Hon. Alabi Rauf Babatunde, Hon. Ayanda Olanrewaju, Hon. Mayor Olanrewaju Lawal, Hon. Funmilayo Abosede (Supervisor for WAPA), Hon. Mojeed Olajoku, Hon. Balogun Ajani Taofeek, Hon. Dawodu Olatunji, Hon. (Dr.) Sunmonu Olusola, Hon. Moses Ibiloye, Chief Monday Obi Igwe. 

He disclosed that the leaders going by the consensus candidate had not done anything wrong as it is in line with the party's Constitution that a candidate could emerge either through a primary election or consensus. 

"There is nothing wrong with the idea of a consensus candidate since it is in line with our party constitution; I don't see anything wrong in the idea and by the way, this isn't the first time the party will go with this idea.

"There is an African adage that goes thus: what an elder sees sitting down, a child will not see it even if stands on an Iroko tree; I believe the leaders chose the idea of CONSENSUS to unify the party members and sincerely, this idea has always ascertained party unity. 

"However, in a nutshell, I will say the goal of the leaders is typically to present a strong, experienced and united candidate who can effectively compete in the election, represent the party and Mushin interest." 

Appealing to other aspirants who are aggrieved by the leaders' decision to respect the decisions of the party leaders in Mushin and throw their full support on the candidacy of Hon. Tunbosun Haruna Aruwe as the Consensus candidate of the ruling party, APC. 

"Let's think of it less, as why him and not me and more as for the love of the party and our party needs everyone now than ever." He added. 

Advised other aspirants to rally around the consensus candidate with the same vibration, energy and tenacity in their campaign camp with their followers toward achieving a sound victory at the July LGA poll. 

Hon. Olubunmi Gbadamosi, one of the female leading aspirants and the Secretary to Mushin LGA, who declared support for the consensus candidate, lent her voice to the appeal to the aggrieved aspirants not to allow division in the APC camp in Mushin toward the LGA poll. 

"Party supremacy is sacrosanct and our leader's decision should be final, imagine if it is one of the aggrieved people that was picked, they would not complain, everything is about interest, everyone is fighting for his or her interest, we just have to respect our leaders' decision and support the party consensus candidate rather than clamouring for the primary. " She said. 

She advised the leaders to look at the reward system of the party by compensating other aspirants for appointment and compensation.
