In light of the recent introduction of the new National Anthem and National Values Charter by the Federal Government, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) staff in Mushin Local Government Area conducted an advocacy visit to stakeholders in Mushin to sensitize them on the importance of aligning with the federal government’s policies.

The stakeholders visited are key traditional leaders such as Oba Onitire, Seriki Hausa of Idi Araba, Baale Omonigbehin, and other traditional rulers and their cabinet members. 

Also visited and sensitized by the NOA staff were students and pupils in their schools, like Oduduwa Junior Secondary School and Nusara-Ud-Deen Primary School in Mushin, to extend the sensitization efforts to younger audiences.

Mr. Mohammed Abdullahi Toyin, the Deputy Director and Community Orientation and Mobilization Officer in Mushin Local Government, led the sensitization. Emphasized the significance of the newly introduced National Anthem and National Values Charter. 

"The third stanza of the new National Anthem serves as a national prayer and should be held in high esteem." He said. 

He concluded that the charter, especially the Nigerian Promise component, assures citizens of seven commitments, including Equality and Meritocracy, regardless of ethnicity, language, or religion.

The sensitization campaign also focused on promoting peaceful coexistence and discouraging hate speech to maintain national peace. 

The stakeholders were encouraged to support government policies, activities, and programs for national development as the campaign is part of the NOA's broader mission to foster national cohesion, unity, and a sense of patriotism among citizens, aligning with the federal government’s initiatives.

The stakeholders expressed appreciation for the NOA's efforts in educating and orientating them on the National Values Charter and acknowledged being better informed and committed to being good citizens of Nigeria.

Materials such as the new National Anthem cards, the agency's weekly publication; The Explainer and the National Identity Project that explains the National Values Charter were distributed to the stakeholders.
