The administration of Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye, the Chairman of Mushin Local Government Area, which started in 2017, has been known to take the empowerment of residents seriously since its inception. The administration has carried out several empowerment programs for the youth and women, including financial support to people and businesses.
The social empowerment scheme has reduced and helped families to start a new life of self-reliance by training and equipping the beneficiaries to start businesses and services to earn a living, which over 2000 people have benefitted.
On Monday, 2 December 2024, over 300 youths and adults, mostly women, were given certificates, start-up kits, and cash as beneficiaries of a two-week and four-week skill acquisition program of Mushin LGA.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the Council Chairman, made it known that this has been the tradition of his administration.
"We are to make our people self-reliant by training them in marketable and sellable skills so that the hardship and burden can be reduced; as a government, we need to provide that opportunity for our people, which we have been doing since the inception of our administration." He said.
He further said in his address, "Today is a celebration of hard work, determination, and the power of skill acquisition to transform lives and strengthing our community, as the Bamigboye-Aruwe-led administration is highly committed by organizing several programs for the betterment of the residents of Mushin local government.
"In empowering the youth and women of mushin as a government, we understand that the progress of any society depends on its people, our youth represent the future and all women are the bedrocks of the strength and stability in the community by equipping both groups with the skills they need to succeed, we are laying the foundation for a prosperous and self-reliance Mushin. " Bamigboye said.
In the first set, 100 residents were trained for two weeks at Mushin Youth Centre, beside Aggey field, and were trained in Make-up Artistry, Hair Styling, Tye & Dye, Bag Making, and Catering.
Another set of 250 people were trained for two weeks in Baking and confectioneries in partnership with Bakery Initiatives at the Council Secretariat
Start-up kits presented to the beneficiaries were Electric Ovens, Cooking Gas with Cylinders, Cooking pots, Sewing Machines, Makeup Kits, Hair Styling tools, etc.
Presenting the certificates, kits, and cash to the beneficiaries with the Chairman were; Hon. Tunbosun Haruna Aruwe, Vice Chairman, Hon. Olawale Ayegbayo, Leader of the Legislative Arm, Mrs. Olubunmi Gbadamosi, Secretary to the Local Government, Mrs. Mojisola Gbajabiamila, Council Manager, Supervisors, Special Advisers/Assistants and other management staff.
Also, dignitaries and community leaders present joined in the presentation, like HRM. Oba Tajudeen Ishola Odubiyi, Onitire of Itire, HRM. Oba Sikirulai Olamide Williams, Osu Apena 01 of Odi-Olowo Kingdom, HRH, Oba Fatai Aileru, ably represented by the Baale of Oke Mushin, High Chief Faronbi, Mr. Babatunde Ige representing Hon. Toyin Fayinka, member of Federal House of Representatives, Dr. Oyeyemi Ayoola, Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Internal Audit represented by her Personal Assistant Mrs Shola, Alhaji Sulaimon Olanijo, Chief Imam of Mushin, Primate Dare Oladele, C.A.N Chairman, Mushin Chapter, Barr.
