It can be recalled precisely on Monday, 23 September 2024, the Odiolowo Ojuwoye LCDA's Chairman, Hon. Rasaq Ajala unveiled a new social scheme program to care for the less privileged, senior citizens, widows, widowers, people living with disability and so on in Odi-olowo Ojuwoye tagged Odi-olowo Ojuwoye Cares targeting 500 beneficiaries monthly.
After the unveiling, various stakeholders within the community like the CDC/CDA, religious bodies, traditional rulers, artisans and concerned organisations in conjunction with the Cares committee members began the collation of beneficiaries' data and on Thursday 24th April, 2025, the Council Chairman began the disbursement of unconditional ₦20,000 cash transfer to the successful and lucky beneficiaries at the LCDA Secretariat.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the Council Chairman narrated the journey that led to the establishment of the Cares, assured them that every 23rd of every month, they will be receiving ₦20,000 each as stipends to support them financially and promised to make it a sustainable program which was inspired by his background, what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is doing to the aged and being part of Hon. Yemi Alli's administration which started the program while he was the first council chairman of the LCDA.
Speaking with Mushines, he said, "As a government, I have a strong passion for our people, mostly at the lowest of the economic ladder, and one of the things we can do to align with the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is to begin this program".
He further stated that the sum of ₦10 million is assigned monthly to the program as a seed fund, which will increase as time goes on, he also promised a health insurance policy for the aged, which will commence by the end of April.
Smiles and expressions of great joy were seen on the faces of the beneficiaries as some of them spoke, prayed for the Council Chairman and asked for more of this from the next chairman so that Odiolowo Ojuwoye community continue to be a reference point in terms of good governance at the grassroots.
"I must be sincere the Chairman has done more than what is expected of him and we are proud of him everywhere we go as a CDA member, but my expectation from whosoever emerges as the next Chairman is to do more and am very sure the next chairman is from this administration who will continue the legacy and do more so that Odiolowo Ojuwoye community continue to enjoy the good dividend of democracy". Said Mr Yemi George, Iseyin CDA member.
