The Executive Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Tunbosun Haruna Aruwe, on Monday, December 8, 2026, presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the Legislative Council, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to building a more sustainable and developed Mushin.
Presenting the budget tagged “Budget for Sustainable Growth and Development,” the Chairman said the proposal is designed to consolidate existing developmental strides and expand key projects across the LGA.
He told stakeholders gathered at the Legislative Chamber that, “Today’s occasion is more than just a formal presentation of figures; it is a reaffirmation of our commitment to the implementation of developmental growth and making progress towards a sustainable Mushin for all.”
Hon. Aruwe outlined achievements recorded since he assumed office on July 27, 2025, saying,
“Since inception in July 2025, we have made significant strides in providing free medical outreach, upgrading healthcare facilities, conducting regular health check-ups, and improving welfare packages for our workforce to boost productivity.”
On education, he noted: “We have improved our education standard by providing free school bags, writing materials, exercise books and sandals for pupils of public primary schools, distributing free GCE forms to indigent students, and constructing modern classroom blocks.”
The Chairman also listed ongoing infrastructure projects, stating, “We have made notable progress in constructing drainages and road projects with solar lights at Alasalatu, Moshalasi, Garba Musa, Iseyin, Radio, Ipaye and Cash Street. We have also donated new transformers to communities, built a new police post at Idi-Araba, and commenced the reconstruction of Akodu Primary School.”
He added that maintaining a healthy environment remains a priority as the council continues regular de-silting of drainages to prevent flooding.
Speaking with Mushines, he assured residents that the budget will drive major projects, saying,
“With this budget, we will embark on massive infrastructural development, empowerment programmes, and environmental improvements.”
He appealed to residents to support the implementation of the budget by paying their taxes and levies, urging, “We need your full cooperation so that we can meet up with our expenditure plans."
Receiving the budget on behalf of the legislators, the Speaker, Hon. Dele Abioye, praised the Chairman’s performance so far.
“The Chairman has started on a good note,” he said. “We will ensure proper scrutiny of each department’s allocation to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Mushin. We also promise a speedy passage to maintain the cordial relationship between the executive and legislative arms.”
Also speaking with Mushines, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Semiu Karaoke, applauded the collaboration between the council’s leadership.
“The relationship between the executive and legislative arms will only grow stronger,” he stated. “The budget presented reflects the true aspirations of the people, and we will give it speedy approval so that the good works can continue.”
He further appealed to residents, saying, “We need our people to pay their levies and taxes so that the council’s internally generated revenue can support federal allocations and help us execute the budget effectively to the admiration of Mushin residents.”
The event was witnessed by a wide array of stakeholders, including: the immediate past Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye, traditional and religious leaders, community and political leaders, market leaders, youth leaders, council management and staff.
