Dignitaries from across Lagos State on Thursday, December 18, 2025, extolled the grassroots-oriented leadership of the Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon. Seyi Jakande, as he marked 100 days in office with the commissioning of multiple community projects.
The event, held at Nusara-Udeen Primary School along Ayantunga Street, also featured the grand finale of the 4th edition of the Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Sports Fiesta, drawing residents and stakeholders from far and near.
Speaking at the occasion, Hon. Jakande described the milestone as a celebration of accountability, service and people-focused governance. He noted that the projects commissioned within his first 100 days reflect his administration’s resolve to deliver practical solutions in healthcare, education, infrastructure, youth development and community welfare, in line with the HEWA Agenda. He further highlighted the introduction of ward-based stakeholders’ budget meetings, described as a first at the LCDA level, aimed at strengthening grassroots participation in governance.
In the health sector, the chairman listed the construction of a primary healthcare centre at Kayode, the procurement of a fully equipped ambulance, free medical outreaches that served over 1,000 residents, and ongoing free eye care services providing glasses and drugs to nearly 1,000 beneficiaries. On education, he cited support for indigent students through GCE examinations and forms, bursaries for 250 tertiary students, youth tech training programmes, improved school transportation, the “One Day Chairman” initiative, and the distribution of free learning materials to pupils across the LCDA.
Hon. Jakande also outlined major infrastructure and security interventions, including extensive road, drainage and water projects, the installation of solar streetlights, CCTV cameras and charging stations, as well as agricultural support programmes, cultural sponsorships and inclusive sports development initiatives. He formally commissioned newly rehabilitated roads on Adegboyega, Adelakun, Ibadan, Adewusi, Muibi and Damegoro by the railway, alongside the Renewed Hope Football Arena, while calling on residents to protect and sustain the projects for collective benefit.
The event also witnessed the thrilling grand finale of the Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Sports Fiesta Season 4 5-aside soccer, played on the newly commissioned five-aside football pitch where Odi-Olowo FC defeated Alakara FC 4–2 to lift the trophy for the third consecutive time. Other sporting events during the fiesta included basketball, table tennis, draughts, ayo olopon, video games and boxing, with winners in each category presented with trophies, awards, cash prizes and certificates of participation.
Dignitaries at the event praised Hon. Jakande for sustaining the culture of good governance established by the previous administration, describing his achievements within just 100 days as remarkable and impactful.
