The Lagos State Council of Tradesmen and Artisans (LASCOTA), Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA chapter, has inaugurated a new set of executive members who will steer the affairs of the council for the next four years. The inauguration took place during the group’s annual end-of-year celebration, attended by prominent political and community leaders.

Dignitaries at the event included the Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon. Seyi Jakande; Vice Chairman, Hon. Niyi Awodogan; a representative of the Lagos State House of Assembly member, Hon. Nureni Akinsanya; APC Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Kazeem; and the Mushin LGA LASCOTA Chairperson, Alhaja Oluwakemi Okunlola, among others.

While presenting certificates of office to the newly elected executives, Hon. Jakande charged them to embrace their civic duty, especially the regular payment of levies and rates, which he noted are priced “as low as ₦5,500.”

“These dues are not just payments, they are contributions to the growth of the same community where you earn your living. When everyone plays their part, the government can do more,” Jakande stated.

Alhaja Okunlola echoed the call for compliance, stressing that fulfilling civic responsibilities empowers the association to demand accountability and benefit from government programmes.

“You must pay your levies if you want to boldly ask for good governance. It is the only way the group can enjoy the benefits meant for artisans,” she said.

Representing Hon. Akinsanya, Hon. Godwin congratulated the new executives and urged them to work harmoniously to elevate the tradesmen, artisans council.

The former chairman of the tradesmen, artisans council who was inaugurated as chairman return elected, expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, assuring them of improved performance, higher compliance with levy payments, and renewed commitment to the council’s development in the coming year.

“We are committed to doing things differently. Our members will be more responsive, and we look forward to a more prosperous new year,” he pledged.

The ceremony ended on a hopeful note as artisans and tradesmen celebrated fresh leadership and renewed unity within the council.
