The peace campaign of Mushin One Love took a new turn on Wednesday, 8 July 2026, with the unveiling of the Mushin One Love Food Bank, as over 150 residents of Papa Ajao Community received food items such as rice and garri in what organisers described as the beginning of a sustained humanitarian programme across Mushin.
The initiative was unveiled during the latest edition of the Mushin One Love peace meeting held at Adetula Street, Papa Ajao, where community leaders, youth representatives, transport union executives and residents gathered to promote peaceful coexistence and strengthen unity within the community.
Leading the delegation was Comrade Rasaq Folorunsho, popularly known as Abija Amani, the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Mushin and Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Branch, alongside other members of the Mushin One Love leadership.
Addressing the gathering, Comrade Amani said the movement was established to restore the spirit of brotherhood that once defined Mushin, where residents lived together in harmony regardless of their backgrounds or the areas they came from.
According to him, the organisation remains committed to resolving conflicts through dialogue, encouraging peaceful coexistence and rebuilding Mushin into a thriving commercial hub where every resident can move freely without fear, intimidation or harassment.
"Our mission is to bring back the good old days when Mushin was known for unity, love and mutual respect. We want everyone to feel safe and proud to call Mushin home," he said.
The peace meeting also witnessed goodwill messages from community leaders and stakeholders from Papa Ajao, many of whom pledged their support for the Mushin One Love initiative and promised to mobilise more residents to embrace the campaign for peace.
The highlight of the event was the official unveiling of the Mushin One Love Food Bank by Alhaji Comrade Ahwa Ismael, Chairman of NURTW TOOAN Branch B, Mushin.
Speaking during the launch, Ahwa Ismael explained that the food bank was created to ensure that every peace outreach leaves a lasting impact on host communities by extending practical support to vulnerable residents.
He disclosed that the distribution of food items would become a regular feature of Mushin One Love's community engagements, describing it as a practical demonstration of love, compassion and unity.
"This is more than sharing food. It is about sharing hope, love and reminding our people that they are not alone. Everywhere Mushin One Love goes, we will continue to spread peace and also put smiles on the faces of residents," he said.
No fewer than 150 residents benefited from the first phase of the food distribution, where each beneficiary received 5 kg of rice and garri, with organisers expressing optimism that the programme would expand to reach more communities across Mushin in the coming months.
Residents who received the food items commended the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention and a clear demonstration that the peace campaign is translating into tangible support for the people.
With the launch of the Mushin One Love Food Bank, the group has added a humanitarian dimension to its growing peace movement, combining conflict resolution with community welfare in a bid to foster lasting unity and development across Mushin.
