The Papa Ajao Friends (PAF) has honoured the late High Chief Taoreed Faronbi, popularly known as Baba Alado, a respected community leader and prominent figure in Mushin politics and the transport union, as the association began early preparations for its 10th anniversary celebration.

Baba Alado, who died on Saturday, September 26, 2026, was buried according to Islamic rites.
The tribute was held during the 9th edition of the Papa Ajao Friends celebration along Sadiku Street, Papa Ajao, Mushin, where members, friends, guests and residents gathered to celebrate friendship, unity and community development.

The event opened with a one-minute silence in honour of Baba Alado, creating a solemn moment of reflection among guests and members of the association.
The atmosphere later changed as participants danced and celebrated to some of the musical anthems associated with the late community leader, turning the tribute into a memorable celebration of his life and contributions.

Papa Ajao, regarded by many residents as one of the quieter and more peaceful areas of Mushin, has over the years attracted residents and friends from different streets who came together to form PAF as a platform for friendship, social interaction and community welfare.

Speaking at the event, the President of Papa Ajao Friends, Mr Elias Olubukola Zubair, said the association was established nine years ago and was now being repositioned to become more inclusive by bringing friends and residents from other streets into its activities.

According to him, the group is already looking ahead to its 10th anniversary celebration next year, which he promised would be a more glamorous and bigger event.

Zubair said PAF had also embarked on several social welfare initiatives within the community.
“We have done boreholes in the community, medical outreach and supported one another,” he said.
The early preparation for the 10th anniversary has already commenced, with members and supporters making voluntary donations towards the hosting of the landmark celebration.

Also speaking with Mushines News, Alhaji AbdulAkeem Aderemilekun Adelaja, CEO of GnG Oil Ltd and President of the 9th Edition Organising Committee, expressed appreciation for his nomination to continue leading the organising committee.

He promised that the 10th anniversary would be bigger and more entertaining, with plans to invite prominent musical artistes.

“As you can see, donations have started coming, and we are calling on other Papa Ajao Friends, both at home and abroad, to keep the donations coming as we are planning a huge celebration for our 10th anniversary,” he said.

The event also attracted Hon. Toyin Fayinka, a member of the Federal House of Representatives seeking re-election to represent Mushin Constituency II, whose ward includes Papa Ajao.

One of the major highlights of the celebration was the gathering of old friends and younger residents, with familiar faces from the old school mixing freely with the new generation.

The atmosphere reflected the strong sense of unity and belonging among residents and friends of Papa Ajao, as members of different generations came together to celebrate their community while setting the stage for a grand 10th anniversary.

With preparations already underway, PAF members are looking forward to making the 10th edition a landmark celebration of friendship, community service, unity and the enduring spirit of Papa Ajao.
