Residents of Mushin have heaved a sigh of relief after operatives of the Lagos State Police Command arrested two suspected armed robbers and uncovered their criminal hideout in a hotel within the community.

The arrest, which took place on Friday, October 3, 2025, followed the swift action of detectives attached to the Lagos State Task Force, who sighted four suspicious young men along Empire Junction by Jibowu, inward Ikorodu Road.

According to a press release by SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, the suspects, on sighting the operatives, attempted to flee. While three escaped, one of them, identified as 21-year-old Toheeb Adeboye, was apprehended. A search on him led to the recovery of a locally made cut-to-size single-barrel gun, an English Barreta pistol with live ammunition, and another locally made pistol with ten live cartridges, all concealed in a bag.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed that the gang had just concluded a robbery operation in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, and were heading to New Supreme Hotel, Akala, Mushin, their regular hideout.

Acting on this intelligence, police operatives stormed the hotel, recovered incriminating items including a laptop, charms, hard drugs, and substances suspected to be Indian hemp, and arrested another suspect, Ajayi Adeniyi (33), who was found with a locally fabricated pistol. The hotel has since been sealed off.

The suspects and recovered exhibits have been transferred to the State Command Headquarters for further investigation, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining gang members.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, commended the officers for their professionalism and warned hotel operators to properly document their guests, as negligence could make their facilities targets for criminal activities.

He assured residents that the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property, urging the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements to the nearest police station.
