The Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber, Stanley Chibuike, for allegedly concealing a pistol inside a loaf of bread in Asaba.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement released on Saturday, November 8, 2025, in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
According to Edafe, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) were conducting a routine stop-and-search operation at Koka Roundabout when they intercepted the 24-year-old suspect, whose uneasy behaviour raised suspicion.
“During a thorough search, a fabricated Beretta pistol was found carefully hidden inside a loaf of bread,” Edafe said. “The suspect, later identified as Nnamdi Stanley Chibuike, was immediately arrested and taken into custody.”
He added that the recovered weapon has been secured as an exhibit, and investigations are ongoing to determine the suspect’s possible links to armed robbery and kidnapping cases within Asaba metropolis and neighbouring communities.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, describing the discovery as proof of the Command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing.
He assured residents that the police will continue to track down criminals, regardless of their tactics, while urging the public to stay alert and share credible information with law enforcement, promising that such tips will be treated confidentially.
