A serious road accident was recorded on Friday at the popular Otedola Bridge along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway after a mini truck conveying tomatoes lost control and rammed into several vehicles, sparking panic among motorists.

The incident, which occurred around noon, was reportedly caused by brake failure, forcing the truck to veer off its lane before crashing into cars on the busy bridge. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with vehicles damaged and traffic brought to a standstill.

Mushines gathered that despite the severity of the crash, no fatalities were recorded. A family whose vehicle was caught in the accident narrowly escaped death, sustaining no life-threatening injuries, according to witnesses at the scene.

Emergency responders and traffic officials later arrived to secure the area, manage the situation, and clear the wreckage to ease congestion on the expressway.

The incident has once again raised concerns about the safety of the Otedola Bridge, with motorists calling for stricter vehicle safety checks and enhanced traffic monitoring to prevent future occurrences.
