Distinguished Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, the political apex leader in Mushin Local Government Area and Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA, as well as a member of the Governors Advisory Council (GAC), has joined Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other party leaders to endorse Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election.

The endorsement, which signals growing unity within the Lagos APC leadership, was announced following high-level consultations involving members of the GAC, the state executive council, and party stakeholders.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, speaking at Lagos House, Marina, described Hamzat as a capable and experienced leader, emphasizing his readiness to take on the responsibility of governing the state.

“At the end of the day, with the consultation that we’re doing, it was unanimous with all of us in that room to say that the deputy governor is a man who’s fit and ready. He’s been well prepared for this job,” the governor stated.

The meeting had in attendance key APC figures, including all 57 local government and local council development area chairmen, further reinforcing the broad-based support for Hamzat’s candidacy.

In continuation of his consultations ahead of the 2027 race, Hamzat also met with Femi Gbajabiamila, alongside prominent party stakeholders such as Musiliu Obanikoro and other GAC members.

Speaking during the visit, Obanikoro noted that the delegation sought Gbajabiamila’s backing, describing Hamzat as deeply rooted in Lagos politics and well-positioned to lead the state.

In his remarks, Hamzat expressed confidence in the strength and structure of the APC, stressing the importance of unity and continuity in governance. He also highlighted the need to sustain the economic stability achieved under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

“We discussed the direction of our state and the work required to move it forward. It remains our shared responsibility to strengthen Lagos and continue delivering better outcomes for our people,” Hamzat said in a statement shared on his X account.

The endorsement by Governor Sanwo-olu and other GAC leaders is widely seen as a significant boost to Hamzat’s governorship ambition, positioning him as the frontrunner in the APC ahead of the 2027 Lagos State gubernatorial election.
