The family of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has confirmed the abduction of his younger sister, Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her 12-year-old twin sons by suspected gunmen in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

According to a statement issued by the family on Wednesday, the incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. while Mrs John-Paul was reportedly taking her children, Peter and Paul, to school when armed men intercepted and kidnapped them.

The family disclosed that the matter was immediately reported to relevant security and law enforcement agencies, which have since launched investigations and rescue operations aimed at securing the safe return of the victims.

Mrs John-Paul, 43, is the youngest of five children of Mrs Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke Adelabu. She recently retired after working with the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian. She had reportedly relocated to Ibadan with her children while making arrangements to reunite with her husband in the United States.

Reacting to the incident, Chief Adelabu and other family members expressed deep concern over the development but maintained confidence in the efforts of security operatives to rescue the victims unharmed and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The family appealed to the public to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and allow security agencies to carry out investigations without interference. They also urged anyone with credible information that could aid rescue efforts to report it through the appropriate authorities.
