The Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Lagos State Council, Comrade Mustapha Sego, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the union's Organising Secretary, Comrade Toba Ajiboye, who died yesterday night after gunmen attacked him when on his way home on Sunday night at Fadeyi area, describing him as a loyal friend, dependable ally and one of the strongest pillars of his leadership.
In an emotional tribute released on Monday, Sego said the news of Ajiboye's passing came as a painful shock, leaving him "deeply saddened and heartbroken."
According to him, the late union leader was more than a political associate but a trusted friend whose unwavering loyalty, dedication and commitment to the NURTW and the TeamSego movement stood out over the years.
"It is difficult to come to terms with the loss of such a loyal, dependable, and committed ally," Sego said.
He added that Ajiboye's friendship, steadfast support and selfless service to the union would remain unforgettable, describing him as a true pillar of TeamSego and SegoNation.
The Lagos NURTW chairman extended his condolences to the deceased's family, friends and members of the union, praying that God would forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal rest and give everyone the strength to bear what he described as an irreparable loss.
In a heartfelt farewell message, Sego wrote: "Farewell, my dear friend. Your loyalty, friendship and unwavering support will forever remain in my heart. You will be deeply missed, and I will never forget the bond we shared."
The death of Comrade Toba Ajiboye has continued to attract tributes from colleagues, associates and members of the transport union, who have described him as a committed unionist whose contributions to the growth of the NURTW in Lagos State will not be forgotten.
