Hon. Razaq Olushola Ajala, the Executive Chairman of Odiolowo Ojuwoye LCDA will soon launch a mobile renewable energy source kiosk to provide electricity to charge our gadgets and other services to the Odiolowo Ojuwoye community.
The Chairman made this known through the Vice-Chairnan, Hon. Seyi Jakande who ably represented the Chairman while delivering the Chairman's speech at the presentation of Certificate of Competency to the beneficiaries of the one-week intensive global green skill training which certifies the beneficiaries as technicians in the solar power design and installations on Saturday, 6 July 2024 at the LCDA Secretariat Hal.
The training which about 100 residents were taken through the hands-on practical process of supplying power through the use of solar panels and other equipment, grounded in the practical as well as the theoretical aspects of the job, and about 75 beneficiaries graduated.
The Chairman said he's excited to introduce the idea of a mobile power source for the community to charge mobile gadgets and provide other services, "I am thrilled to stand before you today to announce this exciting initiative that will benefit our community, as we continue to strive for sustainable development and empowerment, I am delighted to introduce our latest project: Solar Powered Kiosks for the community, " The Chairman.
He added, "This innovative project aims to provide access to clean energy, promote economic growth, and enhance the quality of life for our community members.
"These solar-powered kiosks will serve as hubs for various activities, including charging stations for mobile devices and laptops, internet access points, mini-libraries and information centers, entrepreneurial opportunities for small businesses".
Speaking with Mushines News, the Vice Chairman, said the idea was born out of the administration policy of common poll for common benefits, "We are walking the talk of our administrative policy which is "common poll for common benefits", and we will continue to walk in that path to fulfill the literally meaning of that letter".
Hon. Ismael Yahya, a legal counsel inspired the beneficiaries to see themselves as employers of labor not employees of labor, to start a power solution company that provides services to the people, and pledged to take the beneficiaries through the process of registering their own company free of charge and advised the local government to set up a solar energy front desk for the beneficiaries which will assist them in getting clients from governments and cooperate bodies.
"Because the government does not train you to go and put the certificate under the pillow, you have to exhibit that skill like an entrepreneur to gain financial freedom, so that you can train others." He added.
Engineer Yusuf Majolagbe, Chairman of Nigeria Institution of Environmental Engineers, Lagos State Chapter, disclosed that when the government begins to do more to make people aware of solar energy like what Hon. Ajala has done, the service will be more accessible and affordable.
He added that the Lagos State Government is planning something called a "Building Code" that will make the use of solar energy a must for every new houses as source of power generation which will enhance the bussines.
The newly elected Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter, Engineer Adigun Olalekan Ibrahim thanked the Chairman for the laudable idea for the youth which is quite different from the usual empowerment by local governments.
He added that the local government keying into the green economy by making the young people in the community aware of it and be prosperous within that space.
Some of the beneficiaries spoken with thanked the Council Chairman for the opportunity to acquire the renewable energy skill and explained what they have learnt so far and promised to learn more to a professional.
Dosunmo Ibrahim, a beneficiary who is a graduate of Electrical Electronic Engineering appreciate the Chairman and said it is a dream come true to have learned the solar system design and installation for free.
"I want to thanked the Chairman for this great opportunity to be among the participants, because it is a dream come true for me as an electrical electronic engiineers which I can now provide such services to customers".
"We started from the theoritical aspect to the practical which was very intensive, to know the tools, equiptments, where to get and how to instal, am happy to learn this because I studied Electrical Electronic Rngineering and I will just add it to my electrical knowledge, CV and start applying it". He said.
Miss Bello Nofisat Aramide who came second best student in the training, appreciated the Council Chairman for giving her the privilege said the training has equip her with the knowledge needed like the energy audit and solar installation and promised to go on an internship to learn more.
