The Executive Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Tunbosun Haruna Aruwe, has received a Special Recognition Award in Politics at the 5th City People Political Awards 2026, in a moment that spotlighted his administration’s growing influence in grassroots governance.

Although the council Chairman was not physically present, the honour was received on his behalf by the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Hon. Abisola Muhammad-Yusuf, who described the recognition as a clear validation of purposeful leadership in Mushin.

Presenting the award, Distinguished Senator Ganiu Olarenwaju Solomon (GOS), a member of the Lagos State APC Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), the Apex leader in Mushin and Odi-olowo Ojuwoye who happened to be the Special Guest of Honour at the event praised Aruwe’s performance in office.

“This is a well-deserved honour for a chairman who has shown remarkable leadership capacity. His commitment to community development and efforts at making life easier for residents stand him out,” Solomon said.

He further noted that Mushin Local Government has witnessed visible improvements under Aruwe’s leadership, particularly in service delivery and grassroots engagement.

In her acceptance remarks, Hon. Abisola Muhammad-Yusuf expressed appreciation to the organisers, led by City People Magazine CEO Dr Seye Kehinde, emphasising that the award would spur the administration to do more.

“This recognition is not just an award; it is a motivation for us to deepen transparency, strengthen governance, and sustain development across Mushin,” she stated.

She reiterated the council’s commitment to people-focused policies, adding:

“Our administration remains dedicated to improving the welfare of residents and driving sustainable grassroots development.”

Prominent political figures, including Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat; Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon. Oluseyi Jakande; Yaba LCDA Chairman, Hon. Adebayo Adefuye; and Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, among others were presented with awards of recognition. 

Top officials from Mushin Local Government were present at the ceremony, including the Supervisor for Information Strategies, Hon. Olokodana Daodu, and the Head of Public Affairs Unit, Mrs Aderinto Adebisi, alongside their staff members.

The recognition marks another milestone for the Mushin administration, reinforcing its position in Lagos’ evolving political and developmental landscape.
