As the Federal Capital Territory Area Council election is scheduled to be held in February 2026, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) released its guidelines stating the schedule of activities.
In a statement released yesterday, Tuesday, 20th May 2025, signed by the National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, stated that candidates interested in the chairmanship positions across the six area councils in the FCT, Abuja, will be required to pay a total of N20 million. This includes N5 million for the Expression of Interest forms and N15 million for the Nomination forms.
Aspirants for the councillorship positions are to pay a total of N2 million, comprising N1.5 million for Nomination forms and N500,000 for Expression of Interest forms.
A partial waiver is given to the female aspirants and people living with disabilities (PWDs); they are to pay only for the Expression of Interest forms, while the nomination forms will be given to them free of charge.
Other activities include the primary election, which is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, 25 June 2025.
