Around 2:30am today, Tuesday, 17 June 2025, a group of boys came to Paul Okuntola Street in Mushin to rob residents and break into shops, the swift response and intervention of the Olosan Police Division officers foiled their attempt.

According to the residents, the boys came into the street without making any awareness, unlike when they used to come with throwing and breaking of bottles to create fear and panic in the people.

As they began to hit some shops and doors to break in because there was no light in the area, the sound was loudly heard, and dogs around the area started barking, alerting the residents.

A distressed call was made to the police, and they swiftly responded; their arrival on the street made the boys run away through another exit, and it was gathered that the police stayed around the area till 6am to avoid possibly coming back of the boys.

The residents were full of appreciation to the police that if not for their quick response, the boys would have looted shops and possibly entered some houses.

A resident who spoke with Mushines and wants to remain anonymous said, "We saw them through our widows as the dogs started barking, they were not as much as they used to be and there was no light to ascertain the kind of weapons in their possession or their numbers even they did not break bottles or shouting to create fear, they came silently to loot shops and rob small apartments, they used to come like that sometimes.

"We thank the police for coming to our rescue; if not for the police, we don't know what would have happened. Thank you very much, and God will continue to protect you, as you protect us. " He said.

Also gathered is that these set of boys are thieves who take advantage of the insecurity caused by those boys fighting each other, but come in the wee hours to loot shops and rob people in their houses.

Appealing to the police to station a permanent patrol team at Alasalatu junction so that these sets of boys and the rest don't come in freely at night to loot shops and rob people within the area.
