A 45-year-old man, Ismail Oreniwon who was thrown off at Ogunmokun./ Kayode flyover pedestrian bridge after been brutally attacked on 9 July 2025 by hoodlums is battling for survival at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. 

According to Punch report, Oreniwon is a resident of Oshodi at Arowojobe community was said to be returning home when he was accosted by the attackers near the bridge that has become a black spot for hoodlums attack. 

He said he tried to cross the railway tracks but turned around after being stopped by the miscreants and used the pedestrian bridge, but the hoodlums followed him and beat him up before pushing him off the bridge.

He landed face-first on the rail line below the bridge and sustaining multiple fractures in his mouth and lower body.

Passersby rushed him to Mushin General Hospital, Oliyide where he received emergency treatment.

The report gathered that s medical report from Fit Plus Healthcare, signed by Dr. Ita U., revealed severe pelvic and spinal fractures, including a “multi-fragmentary fracture of the right acetabulum with extension to the iliac bone,” among other serious injuries.

The medical report reads, “Also noted is a transverse fracture to the SS vertebra. A chip fracture fragment is seen interior to the interior to the right pubic bone. There’s widening of the pubic symphysis with external rotation of the right ischial bone. Mild widening of the inferior aspect of the left sacroiliac joint is also noted.

“The right sacroiliac and left acetabulofemoral joints are preserved. No dislocation of the scetabulofemoral or sacroiliac joints is seen bilaterally. The visualised proximal femora and left hemipelvic bones are intact. The bone density is normal. The overlying soft tissue planes appear normal. Conclusion: There’s the Right acetabular fracture, involving the anterior and posterior walls and columns with Tile type C2 pelvic fracture.”

He was later transferred to the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, which referred him to LASUTH for urgent surgery.

Oreniwon, who is married with children, now needs about N8m for critical surgeries on his mouth and legs and remains in severe pain, appealing to the public for help.

Due to the injury to his mouth, he struggled to speak and said, “Two of them chased me. My leg is also broken. The wound is healing up. At first, I used to soil myself because I wasn’t conscious. We have spent almost N300,000 in the previous hospital. I am using drugs daily. Only the surgery is left and we need around eight million naira.”

Oreniwon is appealing to well-meaning Nigerians, community leaders, politicians and religious organisations to come to his aid.
