The Executive Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Tunbosun Haruna Aruwe, has issued an urgent appeal to residents and community associations to strengthen security measures across the area due to a tragic incident that occurred on Friday at Odutan Street, Mushin.
It could be recalled that a youngman known as Kelechi died on Friday's wee hours when he developed an emergency medical condition which the street's gate has been locked without security gateman to open the gate while rushing him to the nearest hospital.
In a notice to the public, Chairman Aruwe emphasized that safety remains the top priority for the local government. Residents of streets, avenues, and closes with gates are advised to ensure a security personnel is stationed at all times. Gates must never be left locked and unattended, as immediate access may be required during emergencies, including fire outbreaks, medical incidents, or security threats.
The notice also directed Landlord Associations, Community Development Associations (CDAs), and street committees to implement these measures without delay. Furthermore, the Community Development Committee (CDC) has been tasked with communicating the directive to all relevant associations, landlords, and landladies across Mushin Local Government.
Chairman Aruwe concluded by reminding residents that “security is everyone’s responsibility,” urging collective efforts to make Mushin a safe and peaceful environment.
