The Lagos State House of Assembly member representing Mushin Constituency I, Hon. Prince Nureni Akinsanya, has promised to do more to support education standard in the constituency, this was made known during the distribution of back-to-school kits to pupils across all 27 public primary schools in Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA.
The lawmaker, who visited the schools along with some key stakeholders in education within the constituency today as the 2025/2026 academic session begins, distributed over 2,000 back-to-school kits comprises of school bags, exercise books, mathematical sets, pencils, biros, and erasers to support the pupils and their parents.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, Akinsanya welcomed the pupils and teachers to school after a long holiday and described the gesture as part of his continued effort to support and improve education in the constituency. He noted that beyond the back-to-school kits, he had been supporting indigent students with free JAMB and GCE forms, while also promising to initiate more educational support schemes.
“We are glad to have our children back in school, and this program is designed to encourage them. We want to build their confidence and morale so that they can believe in themselves and excel in their studies. Education remains a priority, and we will do even more in the future,” Akinsanya assured.
Speaking with Mushines News, He further explained that while distributing the kits, he conducted a needs assessment of the schools visited and would take steps to address some of the challenges. He encouraged parents to prepare their children for school on time and monitor their academic progress at home.
Coordinator of the back-to-school initiative, Hon. Godwin Benjamin, described the exercise as an “epoch-making event” that will ease the financial burden of parents at the start of the new school year. “This gesture will go a long way in boosting the morale of the pupils while also helping parents save money for other household needs,” he noted.
Commending the effort, Mrs. Omolayo, Head of Ojuwoye Community Primary School (Inclusive Special Unit), expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for his dedication. “His presence today lifted the spirits of our pupils, including those with special needs. We sincerely appreciate his commitment to the children and to education in Mushin,” she said.
Some of the schools visited today are Ajenifuja Primary School, Abiodun Primary School, Alakara Primary School, Kosy Bethel Primary p0School, Christ Central Primary School, Ojuwoye Public Primary School, St. Martins Primary School, among others. the dostribution continues tomorrow while stock last.
