As the Independent National Electoral Commission kicked off the continuous voters cards registration nationwide for new elegible voters, correction and updating of data for existing voters, the Executive Chairman of Mushin LGA, Hon. Tunbosun Haruna Aruwe in a one day sensitization meeting with stakeholders in Mushin, emphasised the importance of voter cards hosted by Mushin LGA at the Secretariat Hall on Thursday, 20 August, 2025.

Addressing the stakeholders, the Council Chairman emphasised the importance of having a voter's card not just to vote during elections but also as a means of identity and an opportunity to benefit from government programs. 

"I urge you to take this exercise serious as it will be mandatory in our policy when rolling out government programs that without your permanent voter's card you cannot benefit because having your voter's card shows that you have the tools to elect who governs you at various level of government, do is a must for you to have your PVC as a responsible residents of Mushin and citizens of Nigeria" He said. 

He added that the exercise is in preparation for the 2027 general election which everyone support is needed for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu re-election, "It is our Voter's card that will be used to vote the President for the second term, so I urge everyone to have his or her voter's card for Tinubu 2027", He added. 

Also, the Federal House of Representatives member representing Mushin constituency 2, Hon. Toyin Fayinka, said it is high time the people realise that you don't have to complain about any government or seek accountability from the government since you didn't participate in the process of electing such a government. 

"It is your right to vote, and when you failed to exercise your right to vote, what right do you have to seek accountability?". He asked.

Also speaking at the meeting was the INEC Electoral Officer in Mushin, Mr. Oje Abiodun who took the stakeholders present through the process of registering online via the internet www.cvr.inec.gov.ng which started on 18 to 30 August, 2025 as the INEC ad-hoc staff will be stationed at strategic places within each wards to register new elegible voters who just clocked 18 years old or those who have not registered before, also opportunity for already registered voters who have lost their cards, or their cards is defaced or update their information and those who have relocated to another place to transfer the voter's card data to their present location both inter state and infra state, from one local government to another council area within the state. 

The recently created ad-hoc committee by the ruling party, All Progressives Congress, to support the INEC to reach more people, headed by Engineer Koku, addressed the stakeholders on how the committee will be available to the people and seek maximum cooperation as they move around the community. 

Notable leaders of various stakeholders' organisations explained some of the challenges they faced during such an exercise and were assured that the present nationwide voters registration in Mushin will be a huge success as all complaints will be addressed. 

The leader of the National Union of Road Transport Authority, Mushin Branch C, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Olushola Ahmed, aka Decency, explained what the NURTW are doing to support the exercise and is ready to make it a success. 

"About three weeks ago, we the NURTW, started operation show your PVC, which we instruct every member of our union to show their PVC and anyone who has not gotten is own and has it own lost were profile and be assisted in registering during this new registration exercise, we applaud the Chairman for the sensitization and we promised to continue to support the government to achieve their aims and objectives because we are all clamouring for Asiwaju for second term and Isha Allah it will be so". He said.
