In a swift and commendable operation, operatives of the Lagos State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have recovered 75 mobile phones and five laptops abandoned by fleeing suspects during a routine patrol in Ikeja.

The recovery occurred on Sunday, October 5, 2025, around 5:30 a.m., when RRS operatives on patrol intercepted two suspicious individuals near Allen Roundabout, Ikeja. Upon sighting the police, the suspects fled the scene, abandoning two large “Ghana Must Go” bags.

Upon inspection, officers discovered 32 iPhones of various models, 38 other smartphones including Samsung, Redmi, Tecno, and Honor brands, as well as five laptops, several smart wristwatches, AirPods, a Samsung Tab, a Sorapad, and several damaged phones believed to have been stolen from different parts of Ikeja and nearby areas.

Commander of the RRS, CSP Shola Jejeloye, confirmed that preliminary investigations suggest the recovered items were stolen property hastily dumped by the suspects to evade arrest. He appealed to members of the public who may have lost similar devices to visit the RRS Headquarters in Alausa with proof of ownership to reclaim their belongings.

Commending the operatives for their vigilance, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Moshood Jimoh, praised the team’s professionalism and assured residents of the Command’s continued commitment to proactive policing and the safety of all Lagosians.
