The initiative, which provides ₦10,000 stipends to selected elderly residents, was originally introduced under the previous administration of Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye, where Aruwe served as Vice Chairman. He pledged during his campaign to sustain and expand the programme — a promise he has now fulfilled.
Speaking with Mushin News, Hon. Aruwe emphasized that the welfare scheme reflects his commitment to the people, particularly the elderly.
“This is part of my campaign promises to our elders in Mushin. I promised to continue this initiative and even do more for them,” he said. “Our senior citizens deserve to live with dignity, and we must always remember their contributions to the growth of this community.”
Reflecting on his administration’s performance within the last 100 days, the chairman highlighted several key achievements.
“We have achieved a lot in just 100 days — from road infrastructure development to environmental sanitation and improved security. Eight road reconstruction projects are ongoing across various wards. We have de-silted major drainages and flood-prone areas, and we are addressing insecurity with the construction of a new police post at Idi Araba, among other interventions,” Aruwe stated.
He further urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the ₦10,000 cash gift.
“The money may seem small, but it’s a token of our love and commitment to your welfare. Use it wisely, and be assured that we will continue to do more,” he added.
Also speaking at the event, the Vice Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Karaole Semiu, commended the initiative and reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to deliver the dividends of democracy.
“Our first 100 days have already shown that we are focused and forward-thinking. The people of Mushin can be sure that we are here to serve and transform our community,” he said.
The beneficiaries, who were carefully selected through Community Development Associations (CDAs) and other stakeholder platforms, expressed their joy and appreciation. They prayed for the success of the Aruwe-led administration and its continued impact on the lives of Mushin residents.
With the successful relaunch of the “Owo Arugbo” scheme and visible infrastructural progress, Hon. Aruwe’s first 100 days in office appear to set a strong foundation for his administration’s developmental vision — one that aims to take Mushin to new heights.
