Undefeated Nigerian Mushin-born and bred boxer Taiwo Agbaje, popularly known as “Esepo,” extended his flawless professional record after a hard-fought victory over fellow unbeaten rival Tosin Osaigbovo, widely called “Soja Boy", from Agege, a community in Lagos that shares rivalry with Mushin in terms of street ruggerity and credibility in a thrilling 10-round title bout.

The highly anticipated clash, tagged the “Battle of the Unbeaten,” lived up to expectations as both fighters brought intensity, power, and resilience into the ring. The contest, staged in Lagos for the vacant WBA Africa Lightweight title, had earlier been billed as one of Nigeria’s biggest domestic boxing showdowns in recent years.

From the opening bell, Esepo showcased his trademark aggression and knockout instincts, pressing forward with heavy punches. Soja Boy, however, proved equally determined, relying on speed, counterpunching, and tactical movement to withstand the early onslaught.

Esepo, who came into the bout with an impressive unbeaten record and knockout reputation, had earlier boasted of stopping his opponent. At the same time, Soja Boy also promised to hand him his first career defeat.

As the fight progressed into the middle rounds, Soja Boy began to find rhythm, landing clean shots and testing Esepo’s defence. The bout quickly turned into a tactical war, with both fighters exchanging combinations and showing remarkable endurance.

By the championship rounds, Esepo’s experience and power began to tilt the contest in his favour. Despite Soja Boy’s resilience and refusal to go down, Esepo maintained control, landing decisive punches and dominating exchanges.

At the end of 10 gruelling rounds, the judges delivered a unanimous decision in favour of Esepo, sealing his victory and crowning him the new champion while preserving his unbeaten record.

The victory marks a significant milestone in Esepo’s career, further cementing his reputation as one of Nigeria’s most formidable lightweight boxers. Known for his street-hardened fighting style and knockout ability, the Mushin-born fighter once again proved why he remains a dominant force in the division.

For Soja Boy, the defeat represents a tough but commendable outing, as he pushed his opponent to the limit in what was his first major title fight appearance.

Boxing analysts and fans have since described the encounter as a classic, noting that the bout not only showcased the depth of talent in Nigerian boxing but also signalled a bright future for both fighters on the continental stage.

With this victory, Esepo now stands tall as Africa’s new lightweight champion, extending his unbeaten streak and sending a strong message to potential challengers across the division.
