The Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon. Dr Oluseyi Lawal Jakande, has been honoured with a Special Recognition Award at the 5th edition of the City People Magazine Political Awards, with the presentation led by prominent political figure, Distinguished Senator Ganiu Olarenwaju Solomon (GOS), the Apex leader in Mushin and Odi-olowo Ojuwoye, and member of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council ( GAC) 

Although the council boss was unavoidably absent, he was ably represented at the prestigious ceremony by a delegation led by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Taiwo Ogungbe. Other members of the team included the Majority Leader, Hon. Lookman Akinbode; Supervisor for Public Affairs and Digital Media, Hon. Damilola Jayesinmi; Special Adviser on ICT, Hon. Aliu Ibrahim; Special Adviser on Sports, Hon. Ahmed Shotanwa; and Special Adviser on Revenue, Hon. Adekunle Akinsete.

Presenting the award, Senator GOS described the recognition as a fitting tribute to Jakande’s leadership strides.

“This honour is well deserved,” he said. “Hon. Jakande has demonstrated remarkable capacity in leadership, commitment to grassroots development, and a clear responsibility in improving the lives of residents. His achievements speak loudly for him.”

Receiving the award on behalf of the Chairman, Hon. Damilola Jayesinmi conveyed Jakande’s appreciation to the organisers, noting that the recognition would further inspire the administration’s drive for impactful governance.

“We are deeply grateful to the organisers of this award for recognising the efforts of our Chairman,” Jayesinmi said. “This honour strengthens our resolve to continue implementing policies and initiatives that will enhance sustainable development and improve the well-being of our people.”

The event also featured other notable award recipients, including Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat; Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Bosun Aruwe; Chairman of Yaba LCDA, Hon. Adebayo Adefuye; Commissioner in the Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Hakeem Bamigbola; and Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, among others.

The ceremony drew political stakeholders, government officials, and party leaders, reinforcing its status as one of the leading platforms recognising impactful public service in Nigeria.
