In a moment marked by recognition, pride, and renewed commitment to grassroots development, Comrade Rauf Hammed Ishola received a grand welcome back to Mushin following years of impactful and selfless service both nationally and internationally.

The highlight of his homecoming was a distinguished reception hosted by Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, the Apex Leader of Mushin, who officially adopted him as a son and approved the symbolic nickname “OMO GOS.” This gesture reflects deep confidence in Comrade Rauf’s leadership capacity and his unwavering dedication to community advancement.

Comrade Rauf Hammed Ishola, a dynamic and accomplished youth leader, is a proud alumnus of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), a prestigious global program supported by USAID. He represented Nigeria in 2019 and rose to become the National President in 2021, showcasing exceptional leadership on both continental and global stages.

A true son of Mushin, Lagos, Comrade Rauf hails from APC Ward A and is an active member of the Ideal Club. He was raised in the Buari area of Mushin and is also affiliated with the Glass Dealers Association (GDA).
Beyond his professional and political engagements, he is a committed member of Rotary International, contributing to humanitarian causes worldwide.

His political journey dates back several years, including active involvement during the tenure of the late Chairman, Hon. Oatunde Babatunde Adepitan (OBA), where he demonstrated early passion for leadership and community service.

On April 27, 2026, Comrade Rauf, alongside members of the Hamruf Foundation, paid a strategic courtesy visit to Senator Solomon at his residence. During the meeting, the team unveiled plans aimed at supporting political candidates in Mushin Local Government and initiating impactful community projects. These proposed initiatives will span key sectors, including healthcare, education, sports, and vocational empowerment.

Notable personalities present during the visit included Engr. Shola Agboola, CDA Chairman of Oduduwa; the Youth Leader of Alafia; and other respected community stakeholders.

Senator Solomon, visibly impressed, commended Comrade Rauf for his exemplary service and international representation, expressing pride in his achievements. In a symbolic move of mentorship and endorsement, he embraced him as a son and conferred upon him the name “OMO GOS,” encouraging him to continue his path of service and leadership.

Further affirming his acceptance and growing influence, Comrade Rauf was warmly received two days later, on April 29, 2026, at the APC Ward A (Ideal) meeting. The reception was led by Ward Chairman Hon. Ajayi Opeyemi, and APC Mushin Chapter Chairman, Hon. Shogbesan Ogundimu aka BIG BOSS, alongside Alhaji Shekoni and other party leaders and members. 

In his remarks, “OMO GOS” pledged renewed commitment to the development of Mushin, promising innovative projects and unwavering support for emerging leaders ahead of the 2027 general elections.

His return signals not just a homecoming, but the rise of a visionary leader poised to shape the future of Mushin and beyond.
